Cut corners wherever possible. Food is grossly overpriced for what you receive! I started with a seasonal cabbage and carrot salad for $7. A house salad was included but I opted to spend an additional $7 for the special, a carrot and cabbage salad. I received a tiny portion of bagged pre-cut cabbage, processed precut carrots, golden raisins, and a halfway decent dressing; overall underwhelming. For an entree I ordered seared scallops with parsnip puree. I received 6 scallops a bit larger than a quarter on a bed of parsnip puree the size of a saucer. I’d call it appetizer, not an entree! I ended up leaving the restaurant hungry so I wouldn’t look like a glutton in front of the rest of the table.Food: 6/10 — edible but overpricedService: 3/10 — waiter we had wouldn’t have lasted a day in a better restaurantAmbiance: 3/10 — the expansive dining room/bar are dated, run down, and empty.Overall this restaurant appears to be dying and cutting every corner possible to survive. Owners seem stuck in a 90’s mentality and the crowd comprised of diners over 50 seems to reflect it.

After ups and downs, it’s become a gem!. After years of ups and downs, Paesano’s has consistently great food and has become a place that we love to go to. They have a menu that changes with the seasons and offers things that you don’t get at other restaurants. Like Fettucini with Rabbit, with wonderfully al dente pasta and tender succulent meat (that they don’t skimp on). And they offer gluten free versions of many of their dishes. They also have a very nice wine list. And the atmosphere, especially in the bar area, is warm and cozy on chilly evenings.

Disappointing. We used to love Paesano’s and ate here frequently. This year we kept giving it just one more chance but alas no more. Last week we had a late lunch there. We were assaulted by a sour smell when we walked in the door as if someone had used a mildewed mop to clean the floors. The service was friendly and efficient like usual and can’t be faulted. The soup was hot and delicious. The portions were tiny and disappointing. Definitely not worth the money we paid. We usually have part of our food boxed for a later snack but I decided to leave the other half of my Braised Calabrian Capicola Sandwich. The pasta salad was about a 1/4 cup of macaroni with a pale bland dressing and parmesan cheese sprinkled on top, no seasoning. Too many other reasonable places nearby that serve good food to go back. We wish you well.

Less than impressed. How can an Italian restaurant not know the difference between al dente and raw? The bolognese was wonderful though. It almost made up for the pasta, almost. The kitchen sounded like a circus. May or may not come back.

Our Favorite Ann Arbor Italian Restaurant. This is our favorite in Ann Arbor and Metro Detroit, and one of the best restaurants we have found in our pretty extensive travels. The menu changes seasonally and is filled with old favorites and interesting new things to try. Be sure to try their salads and the gelato.

Treat Customers Terribly. Until today, I was a frequent and loyal patron of Paesano’s for over twenty years. The food and service was always very good, and I recommended it to many other Ann Arborites and visitors to our town. However, this week my family attempted to book reservations for the U of M graduation day weekend (it’s over a month away, and the reservation wasn’t even on the actual graduation day). We were treated in an exceptionally offensive and obtrusive manner that has changed the way I view this establishment. Not only did they take my credit card number in order to make the reservation, but they threatened to charge me $25 PER PERSON if for some reason I couldn’t make it or had to cancel. Now that was if I cancelled less than a WEEK in advance. But that’s not all. They continued to hound me over email, requesting extra information on what amounted to an electronic application to be their customer. I’m disappointed that my long term enjoyment of this restaurant and their food had to be terminated in such an unsavory way. I wish I could still recommend this restaurant, but anywhere that treats their customers this way should not be in business.
