For decent, reasonably priced drinks and American food, Red Hawk is a good bar to visit off of State street. Its filled with locals and students alike, catering to a casual dinner experience. The large, wooden booths are inviting, though its best for smaller parties. I stopped in for a drink and dessert with a friend the other night, and we were pretty happy with our overall experience. It took us a bit of a wait to get in, but we were served quickly. I had the sweet and spicy cider, which was more sweet and less boozy than I wouldve hoped (but still a big portion for the price). For dessert, I had the mascarpone cheesecake, which was fantastic. It was creamy, the cheesecake whipped into a delicate texture. My friends chocolate hazelnut torte was good, though we had to ask for it to be warmed it. Once it was warm, the chocolate melted in our mouths. It was absolutely divine.

Foodwise,. Love the duck sliders, everything else leaves something to be desired.

Impressive Variety. Great sandwiches and burgers. They also have unusual menu items and specials (e.g., duck topped pizza or a catfish sandwich).

Great food. Small but intelligent beer selection which rotates as efficiently as than any other Ive seen downtown. Friendly and more post grad oriented.
