Parents Weekend Disappointment. Was recently in Ann Arbor for U-Mich’s annual Parent’s weekend and had a reservation for 4 @ 8:15. While we seated promptly at 8:15, the remainder of our experience incredibly drawn out and we were continually kept waiting. We were initially greeted by one of two servers who took our drink order and introduced his serving partner, but it was clear that these two were not coordinating taking care of our party. We did not see them speak to each other once and they did not appear to be paying any attention to the timing of our order. This resulting in our group being left to wait for over a half hour after receiving our initial beverages, prior to reminding one of the servers that we had not yet had our meal order taken. His reaction was that he thought the other server had taken our order–despite the menus and wine list still being in front of us on our table. We were not served our main courses until 9:58–and this was by a third server who had to ask who ordered each dish served. We were not asked if we wanted anything else to drink after the initial beverage served when we were first seated, despite one member of our party asking for a drink which was never delivered, having empty glasses in front of us, and were not offered any an after-dinner drink or coffee. The other server also had wiped down our table with a wet bar towel while we were still seated there. While we enjoyed the atmosphere of The Earle and the jazz band, the food was not worth waiting nearly 75 minutes for our meal to be served and the service was the worst we have experienced in many, many years.
