Zola Bistro is another branch of the Zola franchise, this one located in the new shopping mall. Firstly, I was impressed by the decor of this place. It was very modern and very open, the glass windows making it an interesting space. Unfortunately, I cant say that about the food. They offered standard American fare for very inflated prices. Since they didnt have many vegetarian options, I had the lentil burger. Luckily, our food came out not too long after ordering. My friends, who had the Kobe burger, liked theirs a bit better. I was struggling to eat mine, as the patty completely fell apart. The side of jam was a rather strange combination. I wouldve preferred they dress the burger with standard toppings and mayonnaise. However, I liked their fries (though they didnt put more than a sprinkle of Parmesan at the bottom of the fries). I ordered some tea, which ended up being $8 (without any sweetener after asking). I was not impressed at all and wont be coming back.
Ate dinner here for the first timeThe menu was limited with a lot of Kobe beef selections. So I ordered appetizers. I had sucharucha (sp?) which wAs an excellent dish of sauted vegetables with s fried egg on top. The kids had mini Kobe burgers that they enjoyed. Had a great stout as wellThe atmosphere was nice. Not overly crowded and you could actually have a conversation. Family of 4 was $70. Only thing I’d recommend is to expand the menu. Add some fish or chicken over Kobe beef
Worst service in Ann Arbor. Got coffee AFTER we finished or breakfast. I told them I didn’t want it and asked to take it off the bill. They delivered the bill with a a to go cup of my coffee and it was on bill! Terrible! Will never come back
Consistently disappointing. Simply put, the food is good. Unfortunately, there are far too many problems that override this positive. I have been several times over the past year and each time, I leave questioning why I decided to return. I will not be returning for reasons that are completely unrelated to the quality of the food, which is very unfortunate and very fixable for the owners of this establishment. The actual experience of eating at this restaurant can be extremely unpleasant. The tables are all placed practically on top of each other. No conversation is private, and by this I mean, the volume level becomes very loud during peak business hours thus forcing customers to yell across the table. Maybe acceptable for a club, or a bar… Not as much for breakfast. Even with a reservation, the amount of time that it takes the hostess (who seems distracted and unpleasant) to seat is not acceptable for any restaurant. She consistently appears unaware/unconcerned by the growing resentment and discomfort of the waiting customers gathering in a throng right in front of her.The restaurant does boast a nice interior — apparently worthy of some architecture award… Again however, the area by the door becomes extremely congested during morning hours not only for those waiting, but also for those seated by the door. Haven’t even gotten to the wait-staff, but I’m tiring of my own negativity. If you find yourself in the area, try Bigalora for breakfast. It doesn’t seem to have the same rabid following, but at least you can sit down and hear yourself think.
Excellent Food and Service. I’d been to Zola Bistro a few times for breakfast and lunch. Recently, my husband and I went there for dinner for the first time. We were surprised by a wonderfully creative menu and high end wine list. I had the Skate special and an appetizer with watermelon, tomatoes and shrimp, both of which were delicious. And we shared a bottle of Far Niente Chardonnay. Also, our server did an excellent job of pacing the dinner, so that we were not rushed.I do wish that the atmosphere was a little less wide open, cold, and casual. It’s ok for summer, but might not feel as good during the winter, when I crave a warmer style atmosphere……just adding a note. We’ve now experienced dinner at Zola’s in winter weather, and the atmosphere is very nice. The lowered lights, the wood, and the soft music give the place a nice warm atmosphere. This has definitely become one of our go-to places, year round!
This is Real Comfort Food!. I like to eat my brunch in a quiet atmosphere and Zola Bistro is definitely the one! I love how Zola Bistro serves brunch menus all week and weekends just like Cafe Zola. I feel like Cafe Zola is always busy especially during the weekday brunch hours, but Zola Bistro is pretty quiet and empty just as I like! No one can argue with how good the food is there. It can get pretty busy and loud during weekend brunch hours with all the kids, but that can be a positive thing for families with kids; its kids friendly and they even have kids menus!
We did not like it!. Used to be good, but portions become smaller and tables closer. The most disgusting experience we had there was when the owner came to intimidate us to leave after a hefty order, because she wanted the space for larger group. We have never seen this any other place. So disagreeable!Never again!
