The vegan cupcakes aren’t as moist as I’ve had at other vegan bakeries but they still hit the spot. Love the gluten-free options. Lemon bar? Delicious.

I do not have much by way of dietary restrictions, but Sugar Kisses seems to thrive on catering to folks that do. Their specialty is gluten free pastries, and althoug I can eat wheat, I do not miss it in their delicious cupcakes, lemon bars, pies, … mmm… getting hungry just thinking about their creations. I was previously not a coffee person as well, but their Sumatra coffee got me hooked! I do not enjoy coffee anywhere else.

The most wonderful Casada cake!. For someone who does not have a sweet tooth, to fall in love with a cake was quite a surprise. 5 years ago, for their wedding, our kids ordered this, as they said Italian, cake from Sugar Kisses. After the wedding, late at night, as I was wrapping up the leftover cake, I could not stop eating it. It was moist, the cream inside and the frosting on top were not sweet and hauntingly tasty. So last week, for my birthday, I ordered a huge Casada cake from Sugar Kisses. Brian and Lisa warned me, that I was ordering a cake big enough for 100 people for a much smaller party of mine. I reassured them that there will be not a crumb left, and I was right. Actually a small slice was put into my freezer for later. It is utterly tasty even after the freezer. Dear Sugar Kisses, thank you so much. Looking forward to another accuse to order some tasty treats from you. On another thought, I do not need any accuses to stop by your place in Berkley and have a cup of your expresso with a few of your divine pastries. See you soon.

Ignore Brians grumpy act he’s really as sweet as the pastries he sells:). Sure it’s healthy, and ,yes, Lisa is the sweetest smiliest, most genuinely NICE person in the food industry. But the real reason to make this the only bakery you ever visit is because their products are amazingly delicious! From the light as air melt-in-your-mouth Pecan Sandies to the incredible depth and intensity in the chocolate flourless cake this bakery is a true gem. For over 5 years they have been a regular source of joy in our house and our ONLY complaint is that we really miss the pink boxes and the Handy Pies. We can’t wait to see them in their new location!2688 Coolidge HwyBerkley, MI, 48072

Dedicated to Alternative Baking. I love this place. I’ve been going since they opened their first storefront in Royal Oak, and the new digs are a bit farther for me, but worth going out of my way. It’s been near impossible to find fresh, healthy, gluten free, wheat-free, no refined sugar baked goods in the area until they opened. You either had to make it yourself (who has time?), or settle for stale, boxed stuff from the health food stores. We love the date bars and german chocolate cake, in particular. The breads are also outstanding. The rice bread makes amazing gluten-free french toast! Please support small Michigan business if you want to continue to have this kind diversity and choice in your community!
