10 out of 5 stars!. The sound of the wooden screen door slamming behind me as I stroll into the downtown Great Harvest store filled with the smells of fresh bakery items is just the START of an inviting, warm, gracious and hospitable experience! Regardless if it’s 10 minutes before close on Good Friday or the day before Thanksgiving or a casual Sunday afternoon, I always feel WELCOME and part of a family that I don’t have to fight for bathroom time with! Customer Service programs would do well to feature Great Harvest as a teaching model. The owners, Lori and Jeff, run a tight ship. They are both hands-on (many times seen on the front line passing out bread samples), emulating hard work and appreciation for their customers in every aspect of their business. Our future workforce is going to be lucky to get the kids that have have had Lori as a boss for their first job. Not only does Great Harvest employ local talent, they market MICHIGAN products (many from the local, surrounding cities!), use quality, whole-grain ingredients, constantly try out new recipes and offer a variety of baked goods. Further, Great Harvest gives back to the community in every way. I’ve been a Scout leader, the mother of a pre-schooler that’s toured the bakery, a HS soccer mom, volunteered for outreach/homeless dinners and served on several other volunteer committees. Great Harvest has helped me feed many, many people and is one of the many things that make Brighton a nice city to live in!
Go for a coffee drink, stay for the free bread sample. Great specialty breads, like pumpkin chocolate chip, which is more like cake.
Fantastic bread. The sandwiches are pretty good, but the real reason to go to Great Harvest is the variety and quality of bread. They always have at least half a dozen types on the board to sample. I love the Pepperoni Pizza Roll – everything I’ve had there is good, but that’s got to be my favorite.
Best bread
