AWFUL. Terrible atmosphere. Food mediocre at best.
YUM. My friends took us to Gatsby’s because they said the food was great. They weren’t kidding. I ordered a drink and it came back perfect. I ordered the steak and shrimp combo. The steak was so very tender, flavorful and juicy, the shrimp were wonderful. Salad I had was fresh and had lots of different ingredients. I also had the twice baked potato, also very good. My friend loved her stuffed fish and her husband had the fish and chips. I would definitely recommend this place and we’ll be back.
Wasn’t as good as I had hoped for. I read the other reviews, and today finally I had an opportunity to go there for lunch. The decor is very nice, with some exposed brick along the side wall. Mix of booths, standard tables with chairs, and high-top tables with padded stools. I chose to sit at the bar. Bar stools are comfortable, but I like to be able to sit closer to the bar so that I don’t have to lean forward in my chair to eat over my plate. I had a mushroom swiss burger … no complaints about the food or service or prices. Overall a nice experience but not worth going out of my way for (I had to drive 30 min to get there).
Yum. We are here from Omaha and a good steak is definitely a Nebraska thing. I don’t know when I have ever been to a restaurant that has cooked my steak as well as Gatsby’s. The seasoning and temp of the steak was perfect. We also had the calamari and it was so nice and hot, deliciously tender no chewiness to it at all. I would recommend this place to the pickiest palate. We will be back before we leave.
By far my favorite restaurant in Bay City. The owner also owns one or two other restaurants in the downtown area, including Rattlesnake Ricks, but it doesn’t compare with Gatsbys. If you are visiting Bay City, you’ll find that the most appealing aspect of Bay City is the downtown area by the river, and part of the whole experience is having a delicious local dinner before heading to wenona park to watch the sun set over the west side, or getting dessert at St. Lawrence Bros. What to get? Hands down, the BEST buffalo wings in town (they’re actually my all time favorite wings…you could say I’m a connoisseur). The burgers are amazing and the citrus-glazed salmon is another favorite of mine. The atmosphere is a versatile one, meaning one can go to Gatsbys for a business lunch, a romantic date, or to catch the big game with friends while having a few drinks. If you eat at only one place in Bay Cty, let it be this one. You won’t regret it.
Great food, good prices. Have a couple vegetarian options which is nice. Love the 20’s give but not very kid friendly. They only had one high chair which wad being used (they did go fetch one from another restaurant for us.) Also did not offer milk (needed for my child, we had to have one of the family fetch it from a nearby gas station!) Also did not have juice other than pineapple juice. So its great for adults….not so great for kids.
Amazing diner!. Good American food? Burger, Steak, Salads, Sandwiches? Go to Gatsby’s! Not expensive, in the middle of Bay City’s downtown a perfect spot to eat dinner! About 4 TV screens 3 or more usually reporting sport! A bar and clean restrooms. Great place! 5*
