Met some friends here for dinner on a Saturday at about 6pm. it took us two passes up the street to find it as its in the basement of a banquet hall and the sign is a bit easy to miss. The entrance is a little weird and almost makes you feel like you’re entering a secret clubhouse or something. Place was pretty empty so we had our pick of seats. The atmosphere is vaguely reminiscent of an old urban music bar with wooden walls that cause echoes and dim lighting over a hodge-podge of seats and tables. They DO have live music here and I don’t know that I’d want to be present for it with the harsh acoustics of the room causing even basic conversation to seem louder. Our server was friendly, but really bad. We arrived before our friends and told her we were going to wait to order food until they arrived. My wife and I each ordered a drink and a water while we waited. The server brought our drinks and ONE water. What-evs. No biggie. Then she asked if we wanted to order food, again. Really? Once our friends arrived we ordered food (they have a small selections of apps and burgers/chicken sandwiches. THAT’S IT.) and when it came she had mixed up our sides. No attention to detail what so ever. The food was OK, with a few complaints. First, the fried cheese curds tasted ONLY of deep fryer and wasn’t a very generous portion given their $7 tag. The burger had decent flavor, but the tomato on mine was seriously about 1/2 thick, but the biggest fail was using SPEARS of pickles on it. WTF?!? Plus the bun was so soggy by timeit arrived that 1/4 of the bun stuck to the paper when I picked it up. So, B+ for taste, but D- for construction. The homemade potato chips were yummy. They were crispy on the outside, but still squishy in the center, which I actually like. The beer selection is pretty good, too. They have a very impressive variety of mainstream and microbrews. Prices are pretty steep, but it IS a bar, so… I’d go again, but I’m not in any particular hurry.
