Ginger dressing very good but they put it on a very mediocre salad. No effort whatsoever into the salad. Just iceberg lettuce and two carrot slices. Interesting roll choices some different ones for this town. Well made
I have been here a few times and have loved my meal every time. I get the mini me combo and it has 4 great rolls for only 25 bucks. The service is always great. Once my waiter spilled my water on to my sushi combo plate. He was more upset then I was. It happens to the best of us. He cleaned it up right away and within mins I had a whole new combo plate even though I had eaten over half of my other plate. Got to have some yummy left overs the next day.
Worst Sushi I have ever had…. I love sushi and have had good and bad sushi all over the country. The sushi served at AI Fusion has to be some of the worst I have ever had. Nothing tasted fresh, even the rice seemed off. Everything had a strange taste reminiscent of MSG or some weird additive. AS I ate my meal it became apparent why so many of their roles are dipped in tempura batter, contain shrimp tempura and are covered in sauces. The veggies were not fresh nor crisp. I had a shiitake mushroom role with rubbery mushrooms that tasted like they had been canned. The fish was not fresh at all and had the consistency and taste of being previously frozen. The salmon had no flavor at all and was fatty. Very disappointing. The spicy tuna was horrid – that is a mainstay for me and after sending 2 roles back I ordered it as a replacement. The tuna had that fishy taste you expect from canned tuna – not raw tuna in a sushi restaurant. I had this weird after taste in my mouth all night after consuming their food. I was also put off by the baseball caps being worn by the sushi chefs – not cool. On the positive side our server was very nice and didn’t charge us for the 2 roles we sent back. But I will not be eating there ever again. Instead I will be heading to Maru or San Sushi.

Food was okay but pricey. I think sushi from meijer is better. They had a wide selection but maybe to much. You pay more for the atmosphere then anything else. Needless to say I won’t be back.

Slipping?. My husband and I are relative regulars to A1. I must say that our most recent experience there (5/21/11) was quite disappointing. We arrived relatively early (around 6:30pm), so there were plenty of tables available. The hostess seated us in the very middle of the dining area, to which we asked if we could move to a table on either side. We were told no, that those weren’t available. Geez. I ordered two sushi rolls, the barbequed eel and spicy salmon. Both tasted fine, but it seemed that the rolls were smaller than usual. I realize that food in general is becoming more expensive, but really, I HATE feeling as if they think we wouldn’t notice! Bottom line: Take a hard line when it comes to where you want to be seated. And consider ordering something like the teryaki beef (which is what my hubbie ordered)…good quality, good portions.
