I didn’t know this place existed before reading about it on this site. I ordered the Meat and Veggie feast for Two or Three and split it with my friend. It was a fun experience – great atmosphere, clean environment, prompt service, friendly staff and not I mention, delicious food, comparable to Blue Nile (although the bread here had a somewhat bitter flavor). So excited to have found this exotic treasure in East Lansing and can’t wait to introduce more friends to it!
Try it!. I had the lunch vegetarian platter. It was delicious. The restaurant was beautiful and clean. The restrooms are clean. I would go there again. Fun to get a taste of an ethiopian dining experience.
I’ve been a regular customer of Altu’s for over a decade, and it’s better than ever (newly expanded and remodeled.) I recommend the Spicy Chicken Stew (lunch or dinner portion), and the Spicy Chicken Breast Strips meals. Both are available in mild, and the spicy is quite spicy. Get the entrees with the injera bread instead of rice – the bread is like nothing you’ve ever had before.
First timer. Altus was my first experience with Ethiopian food, and I was definitely disappointed. The flavors were bland and the service was very unfriendly.

Just found out I’m going to Lansing, MI. Already found my favorite restaurant! I love Ethopian food!
