Not what I was hoping for. My favorite bagels in Michigan come from Third Street Bagel, all the way up in Marquette. But since no one wants to drive 7+ hours for bagels, I stopped here to see how Bruegger’s compares.I really wanted to like it. The bagels are okay, nothing outstanding, but the real flop is the sandwiches. Part of why I love Third Street is that they make their own flavored cream cheeses, and all the sandwiches are made fresh to order. If you get a breakfast sandwich, they’ll actually crack an egg open as you wait. Not so at Bruegger’s, which goes for speed over quality- they’ll pull a weird rubbery egg patty out of a bin right before your eyes. No thanks.
Boo!. Not only do I not care for their bagels (not New York-y enough), I still haven’t forgiven them for moving in next door to Bagel Fragel Factory and driving then out of business.
I absolutely LOVE the herby turkey sandwich. I get it on an everything bagel and it is delicious. The cinnamon sugar bagel is my favorite type of bagel that they offer.
