Solid place. Been going to Gables for years, they have a big menu full of good deals and tasty food. Homade ice cream and desserts. A kick ass salad bard, with all you can eat garlic bread. Last but not least the booze is cheap and the staff is always on top of there game. Best part about gables is there are two sides to the place and a banquet room. They have a nice sun-room and enclosed porch area which is good for familes. There is also a bar area that is seperated. Place closes at 11pm, so its not a late night hot spot like it used to be. But its a great place to take a date and or start the night off right.
Always Good!. I’ve been going here for the last 10+ years. It beats any chain restaurant. The portions & prices are fair. Great choice of seafood, Greek, Italian & American dishes. The breakfast choices are good too.. Especially the Sunday breakfast buffet which has a lot to choose from. It’s an ideal place for any large gathering… class reunion, get together after the game, graduation, etc. OH! Don’t forget to try the homemade ice cream. YUM!!
This place was once THE hotspot in East Lansing as it sits right on the Okemos side of the EL/Okemos border…until bars were allowed closer to campus. Many of the jazz and big band greats played here and you can still glimpse the faded glory of this place. The food is actually pretty decent, although the clientel was entirely 60+ aside from us when we visited. Service was somewhat slow, although food came out quickly. I’d recommend any of their Greek items as well as their mushrooms. An interesting and historic alternative if you are bored with the usual college town fare or want a quiet place to gather.
