Honest review. I was excited that there was a new Mexican restaurant in the area. There is a real lack of authentic Mexican cuisine in the area. There still is. I reviewed the menu prior to attending so my thoughts were that, with prayer, perhaps the lackluster menu would be shining with the authentic taste. That was not the case. The restaurant was EXTREMELY cold and I had to keep my coat and gloves on! As did my 4 year old daughter. The food was brought out pretty quickly, however, my 4 yr old had to wait for her chicken fingers and fries. They were typical unsavory frozen breaded chicken tenders. Out of all the food the fries looked and tasted the most authentic. I ordered the hot and spicy burrito. It was luke warm and no spice. It was a nice size portion yet it was full of dry chunks of seasoned chicken (bland), greasy ground beef (I still don’t believe it was ‘real’ ground beef) and chunks of beef (also dry). The sauce that was poured on top was tasty…but the inside of the burrito had all those dry meats in it and it was just not tasty at all. The rice was also re-warmed (I suspect microwaved) and the beans were…reprocessed refried beans. Nothing spectacular and nothing that says I need to hurry back there.I had already promised my daughter that we would get the Mexican fried ice cream. But even that was a major disappointment! There was a rounded scoop of vanilla ice cream DROWNING in cool whip. There was so much cool whip that after five spoonful’s she still had not touched the ice cream. I scraped the cool whip so that she could get to the actual ice cream and it had been rolled in cornflakes (no spices added). The fried flour tortilla was pretty flat (not bowl shaped) and was haphazardly sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Of course the taste overall was not bad…it did leave a longing for authenticity.Amongst all the food disappointment – the service had nothing to get excited about! The server Jose U was not very personable nor timely. When the dessert was delivered (a large portion only 1 spoon was brought) an additional spoon was requested. It took over 8 minutes for the server to return with another spoon. Although I noticed by the server station there were containers with silverware (including a separate one with spoons) only a few feet from our table. The server spoke very poor English and his accent was very hard to understand. He spoke with the other waiters and waitresses in Spanish made comments about our table. Unfortunately, many people that think just because someone doesn’t respond in their language does not mean they don’t understand or know it! As I searched for a place to comment online I was more WROUGHT with the discovery that my receipt with my credit card # (last four digits) and the Ref # etc. was POSTED online!!! The ONLINE site at the bottom of the receipt led to my paper receipt…that was VERY DISTURBING!!So…needless-to-say I will not be spending anymore money or energy at that establishment.
