I grew up around East Lansing. While Pizza House has never been one of my personal favorites, I’ve had much of what’s on their menu. Every so often I’ll have a craving for some dish or another. I’m always satisfied – almost without fail – but I’m never blown away and often find myself wondering if I could have gone elsewhere and gotten something better for less money.Have no doubt about it: the Chicago-style and stuffed pizzas are delicious. I remember the first time I tried one of the former, I was very skeptical. It looked, so far as I could tell, like a bunch of baked sauce with some cheese in the center. All it took was one bite before I was well on my way to finishing the entire thing. And here, I think, is where my praise for Pizza House has to end. A couple of exceptional items does not an outstanding restaurant make. While the servers are nice and the place always seems to be full, this is the sort of restaurant that sets you up for high expectations by way of praise and completely fails to meet its legendary promise. The decor is dull, and, Chicago delicacies aside, the food is pretty regular. It’s a very standard, independently-owned little city joint. Unfortunately, the price for the fare is much more Manhattan than mid-Michigan.A couple of hamburgers and soft drinks shouldn’t run a person over $30 at a place like this. Moreover, even if the pizzas are good, the larger sizes are overpriced. I’ve had better $1 slices in New York City than here.Pizza House gets three stars from me, although I can easily understand how somebody who’s never left the state might give it five.
It was good i had the stuffed deep dish was about as deep as ive had around here
Extremely Disappointing!. Food was over-priced and poorly executed: most entrees were lukewarm as a result of the wait for the Chicago-style pie. The same bland tomato sauce seemed to be used for everything. Flavors were reminiscent of Super Man ice cream when mixed: a grey blah of sameness. Five in our party all ordered entrees, and the tab was $95.00. Thin crust was soggy, and the Chicago pie was gooey in a soft-bake cookie kind of way. The biggest issue is probably the size of the menu: it is encyclopedic! Trying to do too much with nothing being done well!
Do not purchase online. Or at least give them a garbage email address. They will not unsubscribe you and not respond to your requests. The pizza wasn’t worth it.
Overall Average pizza. I ordered a thin crust pizza, and asked it to be cut into squares. It wasn’t even cut, the cheese was stuck to the box, and the crust was very soggy. Overall the pizza was average.
We come here with a group, which they accommodated fairly well. However, the food was nothing special and of pretty poor quality. I ordered a portobello pasta and the mushrooms tasted funky. Pasta was completely gooey and overlooked. Portions were obnoxiously large. Olde Chicago, a few miles away, is similar and a little bit better.
