A limited number of choices die to my taste; but they had really good duck and amazing baked meringue. Excellent and attentive staff. Well worth visiting again.

One of the most unique restaurants in the greater lansing area. They are true farm to table and they take a lot of care preparing their food. We are really lucky to have them.

This restaurant was very disappointing. The food tastes great and has unique flavors, but you will spend $40 each if you want a whole meal, even drinking water. Sixty dollars each if you want a beer and dessert. I am not sure how they justify their pricing. Farm to table food does not have to be ridiculously expensive. The people who want farm to table food are typically not wealthy but are people who want to change the way they eat.

I’m honestly shocked by the number of negative reviews Red Haven has. This is easily the best restaurant in the Lansing area. I’ve had about half a dozen meals here and loved just about everything I’ve had. Their chicken and waffles was one of the few dishes I’ve ever had that is engrained in my memory. Anytime I see it on other menus, I know there’s no way it’s as good as Red Haven’s. Yes, it is pricy, and maybe the atmosphere is loud, but the food is TO DIE for!

Disappointment not ignorance. It is not fair to label writers’ negative reviews as ignorance. People know good food and this is good farm to table fresh food. However, everything is outrageously expensive including drinks. You are encouraged to order 3 or 4 tapas per person and that adds up to be quite a bit if you add other things like salads, drinks, etc. There is also not much ambience due to the extremely loud noise level. However good the food is the portions are inadequate in proportion to the prices. Try more reasonable pricing or larger portions and quieting the place a bit and it might help. I do think there is somewhat of a snob appeal thing due to those who consider themselves foodies and that hurts the place. This is not NYC,LA or Chicago. The staff could not be more pleasant though. Part of me wants to go again and then not.

Amazing restaurant. Great tasting food with local and seasonal ingredients. Attention paid to every detail. You wont find chain restaurant prices here but the prices are worth the amazing experience. My husband and I frequent this restaurant and there mobile food truck The Purple Carrot often and have never had a bad experience.

What? I cant hear you!. I went to Red Haven with friends recently and was expecting good things; I was disappointed. For a place thats supposed to be a cozy, hipster, farm-to-table joint, why do I have to yell in order to be heard? The acoustics in the place are terrible. Not to mention the floor is tile and the bottoms of the chairs are plastic, so any time anyone in the place moves, this horrible screeching sound reverberates throughout the room. We wanted to try one of their mixed drinks weve heard a lot about, but Im not paying $8-$12 for a cocktail in an East Lansing hipster eatery. We ordered from the Restaurant Week menu, which Im glad we did because holy crap are they expensive! And they explained that theyre a tapas-style place, so they suggest each of us ordering three or four dishes to share. Yes, I am going to spend $70-80 just to get a bunch of small dishes of confusing food. As for the food, the flavors were there, but they were not paired well. I had summer truffle on a dish that did nothing for it except probably wow idiots who think adding truffle to everything automatically makes it better. This place also suffers from the delusion that people dont know how to eat and dont remember what they ordered, so the server has to tell each person at the table every single time for every single dish what food theyre eating and how to eat it! That is so pretentious its maddening. Lastly, if theyre so big on how awesome local is, where are all the great Michigan wines, beers, and liquors?Red Haven needs to decide whether they are an upscale dining place that can charge $10 for cocktails and have very expensive, very small dishes, or a homey, cozy, farm-to-table meeting place that needs to drop its prices to be sustainable. You cant do both. This place is trying to be Fork in the Road and failing.
