Inconsistent. From food to service – inconsistentI go there for work meals very often. Sometimes it is excellent food and service. Sometimes it is so not worth the price. Like one time, I asked for my bread to warmed and it was came back obviously microwaved, ruining the bread. Bread in microwaves are one of my pet peeves anyway. Makes it hard and tough.
Ehh. Waiter took 20 mins to get to table. Soup was cold. Entrees were average. All in all, way overpriced, sub-par food, and an incompetent manager. When we talked to John (the manager) after the meal to discuss our issues he was rude and seemed very antisocial. How can you be a restaurant manager and seem as if you don’t like people?????Food: 3/5Staff: 2/5Price: 3/5Overall experience: 2/5
Overpriced, UNimpressive. When I stayed at the Kellog Center I made the mistake of eating in the State Room because I wanted to avoid driving in all the road construction in East Lansing. I ordered a Kobe Beef hamburger with Parmesan fries which sounded superb according to the menu. In reality it was merely an overpriced hamburger and run of the mill french fries that had Parmesan cheese mixed into them. To prepare the french fries I’m guessing they put them into a paper bag with, HOPEFULLY, grated Parmesan cheese and then shook the bag then emptied the bag onto the serving plate. I’ve made Parmesan fries at home using cheap store brand can Parmesan cheese and the OVERPRICED, glorified fries at the State Room taste exactly the same. $16.90 for a glorified hamburger and pretentious french fries is a terrible joke. The next day I ate off campus and had a great meal at a small unimpressive looking family owned restaurant that served an extremely tasty meal.
Great dinner! Quite atmosphere! Nice decor! Give it a try! I had the Filet and it was very tasty, sides were great too. Great service. Fresh brewed ice-tea. Even tried the Chocolate Carmel Crepes (minus the bananas) and wow was that amazing!
Best restaurant in East Lansing. While interviewing with MSU and house hunting, we stayed at the Kellogg Center for 5 nights, ate 5 dinners and 5 breakfasts there, and were very impressed with quality and consistency of the food and service. We haven’t found any other restaurant of this quality in the area. Dusty’s is OK but not as good as this. The State Room seems to be off the radar because it’s on the MSU campus and a lot of people don’t know about it, but seek it out.
Great Sunday brunch best in town.
