Perhaps the best Mediteranean food in the Greater Lansing area. Excellent food and delicious fresh vegetable and fruit juices/smoothies. Beautiful restaurant, open kitchen, very clean, and healthy food. Highly recommended.
Great Med and Mid East Food. I usually go weekly to enjoy one of their daily specials. The Syrian Cheese wrap is wonderful. I don’t think I’ve had anything I didn’t like. The Falafal is nicely fried with a great crisp outter shell with good flavorful spice. The Deboned Chicken grilled delightfully. Try the lentil soap, creamy and tasty. Pistachio and Tiramisu Gelato, eggs, milk, and sugar, heavenly. I love the baklava, flaky and sweet. Not only do they make great Med and Mid East food but they make a good plate of fries. The service is always good even though it is not a regular sit down restaurant. Overall I totally recommend this place.
Favorite in EL. We may be this place’s best customers, we were knocking on their door before they were open, and have gone once or twice a week since. I absolutely love middle eastern food and we go to the downtown East Lansing area often for dinner during the summer, but we’ve had problems finding a good place to eat reliably, especially now with kids. Harpers is all atmosphere and poor food. El Azteco is tasty, but you can only take so much of that, and chips fried in animal fat (I’m sure) aren’t the healthiest thing, its a bit of a dive. Pancheros is good but again harder to be healthy at. We went to Potbelly for a long time because we could just eat a small sandwich and skip over to Coldstone, but little kids don’t do well with those sandwiches. Cosi is good, probably because they put so much salt and fat in everything, but all told we were going there before Sultans came. Sometimes we also would go to the sushi place up there but its a little more expensive and they don’t have a lot of room for our stroller. But Sultans did come. I’m not sure the ownership/pedigree with this one vs the other ones in town, but the food is pretty much the same, which is to say good. We normally get shish kafta, chicken shawarma, falafel, and of course hummus. It is somewhat healthier than the other options (hummus may not be low in calories but it is at least nutritious) but it does have a lot of nice healthy vegetarian options if that is your thing. Plus it is really good for kids, chicken shawarma is perfectly cut up for little kids. They also have really good gelato here, it may not be quite the same as coldstone, but it is comparable. They have this carrot cake gelato that is very good and eerily very accurately tasting like carrot cake. The service is all good and friendly. The most striking thing about the place is the decor, they put some money into this place. No hole in the wall here. All tabletops are granite, nice tile floors, stylish decor, stained glass pendant lights. Very nice, almost out of place for the area in how nice it is. It is also very reasonably priced. Tuesdays wraps are just $3, and otherwise can be had for under $5, they also have a nice shawarma salad for under $5.
