Crack fries are great but no need to order as app since you get them with your sandwich. Meat rolls are the best app!!! Love the way the beer menu shows what is from MI vs brews from Hopcat vs others.
Attempted to go once, not inviting, no one talked to us or greeted us. We ended up leaving. This was a few months ago but figured I would let others know. If I ever make it down and have the chance to get seated I’ll edit this review 😉 but for now it was so bad I couldn’t even try it.
Need to bring their grand royale back because that’s like the only reason I went there besides their mussels that they also got rid of. Who ever made these stupid changes should be fired
Hopcat is so frickin’ awesome that it’s almost TOO frickin’ awesome. Seriously. It’s been ranked as the #1 pub in the United States and #3 in the WORLD for a reason, but that almost works against it in that it can be HELLA crowded sometimes (usually at night). Everybody wants to be here! Lunchtime isn’t usually bad at all, except during ArtPrize (but that’s a given). Anyway, Hopcat has 3 locations as of this writing, and numerous cities BEGGING for them to open one, but THIS is the original and, in my opinion, the best (but to be fair, I haven’t had time to hit the one in Detroit, yet). The atmosphere is the absolute pinnacle of what a craft beer pub should be. The food is stupidly delicious. The beer selection is always sure to please. Service is usually great, but as I said, it can get chaotic in here and sometimes service gets behind, but hey. If you haven’t been to Hopcat at least once, you are missing something special!P.S. Almost forgot to mention… Get the Grand Royale. Its a wicked good Sloppy Joe made with Beer Cheese, Jalapenos, Crack Fries, and a heavy ladle of awesome.
I have been there three times and had terrible service each time. Staff is rude and service is slow. I will never go there again personally.
