Last night was my second visit to Leo’s. Both times I have gone with a group and both times I was disappointed. The first visit our server was fantastic but the food quality was lacking in almost every way, especially considering the price. Last night was more the contrary. The food ( at least mine, some of the members of my group had multiple complaints) was better than my previous visit but our server Brian was awful! From the start he got our food and drink orders incorrect and was irritated when asked to fix it. For example everyone in our group order a soup or salad ( which is an additional cost) and he forgot one of the salads. When she asked where her salad was he left to find out and did not return until the entrees arrived and with no salad! He also forgot to bring out one of the appetizers that was ordered and when questioned on where it’s location was, more than once, he seemed irritated and finally brought it out after everyone at the table had finished their entrees ! At the end of the meal I wanted the rest of what I had ordered boxed up but instead he took my plate and started stacking dirty used plates on top of my leftover meal. When I said that I had wanted to take that home he suggested that he could just pull the plates off and still box it up ! What high end restaurant would be ok with pulling dirty dishes off of a customers food and offering it to them !? There were so many things that were forgotten or wrong but considering most of my group are in the service industry we stayed pleasant and forgiving until the end of the meal when the check arrived on one bill. He rudely dropped it at the center of the table and walked away. One of the women at the table had to actually get up and find him to ask him to split the bill. At that point Brian went from annoyed to straight up rude ! He was snappy and took almost a half hour to break up the bill and even still after that the split bills were incorrect which we tried to point out but he just walked away as we asked questions. After everything that went wrong and the time it took to even get some of the issues fixed we decided to just settle up amongst each other and get out of there. Our reservation was for 7:30 and were not able to leave until almost 10 pm. I will never go back.

Wow! This place was fantastic. No joke – one of the best filet mignon I have had. I had it rare Oscar style. I’m use to steak houses where you order sides a la carte, so it was a bonus to 1) get a great cut of meat and 2) the entree came with asparagus and mashed potatoes.I’m a wedge salad lover. Leo’s version was a good portion size but I ended up subbing the French Gorgonzola dressing out for traditional bleu cheese. The table multiple desserts: Creme brle, tiramisu cheesecake, caramel chocolate torte and some sort of seasonal blueberry bread pudding. The desserts were decent – I expected them to better but still a good sweet tooth satisfaction. In order of my personal preference:1) Creme brle (but had an overly egg taste to it)2) cheesecake (texture was a bit rubbery)3) chocolate cake (the combination of milk chocolate, caramel and dark chocolate didn’t have a good transition for me)4) bread pudding (some what on the bland side)Despite maybe a bit of dessert disappointment, the enter itself would bring me back each time!

Best In Town. The seafood is fresh and taste amazing. All the dishes we tried were perfect and we ordered a little bit of everything including fish, lobster, chicken and lamb. Leo’s has the best service anywhere I have eaten in Grand Rapids. You didn’t have to ask for anything and your glass was always full. Our needs were anticipated by the wait staff and the manager himself stopped by our table to ask us how we were doing. If I had the budget, I would eat at Leo’s weekly. Keep up the good work!
