Flavorful and filling. This was the 2nd time I have eaten Ethiopian food, the other time was at a fancy schmancy restaurant in Minneapolis. Most Ethiopian food is served on a gigantic pancake-type bread called injera, which is made from teff flour (a tiny grain mainly grown in Ethiopia). It is fermented, so it almost tastes like sourdough, but with a spongy texture. We shared one of the big vegetarian plates between 3 people and it was plenty of food. Basically they take 8 or 10 different types of vegetable or stew and plop them down in separate spots on the injera. You tear off a piece of the injera and use it to pick up each mouthful. There are usually no utensils. We also had several cups of green tea and finished off with some Turkish coffee. The meal overall was amazing, even if the decor is pretty sketchy.

Wonderful change of pace!. The food is delicious and different blend of flavors. I also appreciate that the meal is filling while still being vegetarian. My husband is completely a meat eater and still loved the meal. We have gone with just two of us and also with four and order the combo platter. This gives a good mix what is offered, although its not clear what is what. The platter had more dishes on it when we were there with four people but both were the same price per person and both were just as delightful. The tea is also yummy, but we have gone there sometimes when it is super sweet, and I did not like it as much. Be prepared that they do not take credit, this caught us off guard on our first visit!

All-time favorite!. Little Africa is one of our all-time favorite restaurants. We discovered years ago and immediately took to it. The food is all vegetarian and served in the traditional Ethiopian manner (as far as I know). The owner is incredibly nice, the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed, the location is unassuming, and the food is such a rich blend of flavors, spices, and sensations that it’s hard to describe. And make sure you try the tea as well – another delicious blend of flavors. We’ve never had a bad meal here! breakfastwithnick.com
