Three cheers for an awesome hard of hearing friendly experience. On a rainy Friday night we made plans to stop by here on the way to a show downtown. Did not make reservations, but figured that we wouldn’t need them at 5pm. Did not need them. 🙂 When the hostesses at the door met us and asked how many for our table I feel they saw that my husband had cochlear implants and knew what type of table would be best so that we can have a conversation. They seemed to have a few multiple tables that fit that bill. We were offered the specials of the day in written and spoken form, were told and demonstrated where the happy hour specials were and that they were in effect. We picked out a Michigan beer on the happy hour menu, the sticky chicken share plate, the chicken liver po’boy special and Ottos Moroccan chicken. All were very tasty and included sides that weren’t fried. He had an orzo salad with the sandwich and I had a tomato/cucumber salad with the chicken. Fresh, tasty and filling. In fact, too full for dessert. (which looked tasty too) Well worth the trip and look forward to going again. Thanks to their special attention and understanding of the needs of hearing impaired people we had a stellar experience.

  • Good Food

Yum!. The sushi here is very good. I love the fact that Rockwells uses fresh ingredients and seafood in their sushi. Many GR sushi joints use poor quality seafood. One more thing, if you are not in the mood for sushi, they have a phenomenal appetizer and entree menu.

Always great!. We recently dined here with friends from out of town, they were so impressed that there was a restaurant of this quality and atmosphere in Grand Rapids. The night we visited we ordered the risotto of the day, sea scallops, lettuce wraps, north african shrimp, romaine salad and desserts, everything was absolutely amazing! Thanks for all the great recommendations Ben, great job once again!25 Jan, 2012Nice. I am a 30 something newlywed! My husband and I absolutely love this place… great sushi, homemade pastas and appetizer and great menu overall. Drinks are to die for and the atmosphere is perfect for dining, socializing and having some tasty martinis… yummmmmyyyyy

Great Atmosphere. The nice thing about Rockwells/Republic is you can always make a night out of it. I enjoy starting with a great meal either on the deck or various parts of either establishment and then settling in for the evening. Its always a great crowd! Staff is great, I highly recommend!

The service was not great and the food was even worse. I had a few samples from friend’s dishes and they were not any better than my own. I was disappointed hoping the service and food would be up to par since it is a neat building but it definitely was not.

The fried goat cheese salad is delicious! Our server was fine; our drinks and food came quickly. Atmosphere was terrible, people were literally screaming downstairs. Take-out from Republic will be in my future.
