Whenever veal is on their menu you must try it. The preparation and presentation is outstanding. The service and friendliness is also great.
What a wonderful place!. Tre Cugini has always been one of our favorite places in GR. This charming restaurant never has disappointed, and now that they have a new chef, they continue to bring the finest dining to the area. We were delighted with the new menu offerings, although my husband’s favorite is still the veal at Tre Cugini. Their seafood is excellent (the scallops in orange sauce were supreme) and their butternut soup is wonderful…as is everything else we’ve ever tried, including their tasty unusual bar offerings. They make a mean martini! If you haven’t tried Tre Cugini, you’re in for some VERY fine dining!
One of my favorites in town! This place has amazing food and an extensive wine list. The atmosphere makes you feel like you’re in Italy and the accordion player adds a perfect touch. The staff is very knowledgeable and always provide excellent service. Highly recommend!
We did online reservations and arrived early , no problem with a nice table , over all it was very nice time up to everything taking way to long for some reason the kitchen was backed up and the items that was suggested was all of a sudden sold out, which I didn’t buy at all, the second suggested item was ,,, you guessed it sold out, settled on the sea bass that’s was way over cooked , our waitress was getting embarrassed with what was happening and kept apologizing for the constant delays in our dishes showing up, would I go back maybe , could have just been an off night but what clinched it for me is I had taken the time to e mail the owner with my thoughts ,,, twice ,,, no reply . So we won’t be spending our hard earned money there again .
Wanted to love it but!. My husband and I along with our 8 month old son visited Tre Cugini on a short weekend get away to GR. We were actually looking forward to our visit to the upscale Italian restaurant. The dining experience started out great. Our waiter was friendly and had a great attitude however over the 2 hrs we were there our dining experience slowly turned into a bad one. The restaurant was not busy although we had to wait forever for our food. I’m on a special diet for my son he is breastfeeding and can’t have dairy proteins. The waiter insisted he would tell the chef and he would leave all dairy possibilities off my plate. I ordered salmon with peas in white wine sauce. It came served on cheese potatoes. Unfortunately I tried a couple bites of them thinking they were something else and sure enough my little guy had a belly ache (to say the least) the next day. When I told the waiter that I tasted cheese he told me he forgot to add the dairy free to the request. At that point after our long wait and the wait staff serving a possible allergen to us you would have thought we’d receive a discount or at least a visit from the manager to our table. Absolutely nothing was offered! This restaurant puts on a great front at first but the portions are small for the price and if you need to order something special you’d better confirm several times. My husband and I were very disappointed that 1 beer 2 entrees and 1 salad came to almost $100. You’d be better off spending that money at another high end restaurant.
I took my wife here for her 26th birthday on an early evening in August. The food was par, although the service was garbage. It was like our server was brought on board that day with no training whatsoever. I can only hope for the amount of money people pay that they receive better service than we did, or at least better food. Unimpressed for a true italian restaurant. Grand Rapids has to step it up a notch, and take some training from Montreal.
Good food but overpriced, service mixed. We were looking forward to our night out at Tre Cugini’s but left with very mixed feelings. Whilst our food was good – to be expected at the price levels – the experience w the service was poor. It was a busy SA night and we ordered Tuna tartar ($16.00/excellent), Lamp Chops ($39/good), Linguini Vongole ($28/excellent). The server with the water clearly wished to be anywhere else than at Tre Cugini’s: the water was never filled up, she kept yawning in very obviously and was very inattentive. The wine ordered seemed to be one of the worst wines ever served at a price level of $11.50 (must have been a $ 5.00 bottle) – it was difficult to get our waitress’ attention to order a different wine. Also the service was knowledgeable once present we did struggle all evening to have someone check on water, wine or food. We sat for 1/2hr w/out wine or water, had to inquire w another waitress for a second wine, which never came – our waitress came to take the first glass w/out ever inquiring if I wanted a second one? Upon complaining the 2nd arrived 20 min later – after our dinner was finished ( which we returned) To top it off, both glasses were charged w the comment it is not house policy to take a wine off even if I chose to return it ( seriously – in a restaurant where I spend $ 140.00 for 2 dinners and a appetizer?) Will not be back…
