NOT WORTH IT!!!!!. Myself and two colleagues went to lunch for the first time at 24 Grille today. It will be our last time! We each ordered a tuna sandwich with fries and two of us had water to drink and the third had a hot tea. The food was not enjoyable, our waters were not refilled and the bill was outrageous ($76.00). I would not recommend this restaurant.
We really enjoined 24 Grille! We sat at the bar to watch NCAA hoops and ordered drinks and apps. Good food, good service. Our bartender was fast, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of. I wish their draft tap selection was just a bit larger but no huge deal. And for the reviewer who was burping the whole next day, you gotta be crazy, or maybe you should see a doctor before you dine out because you clearly are whack.
Jamforlife. Several of the worst!Worse service EVER! Rude and aloof.Worse food EVER! Everything we ordered was greasy and overcooked – was burping the nasty flavors through the following day – this includes everyone in our group.Worst cleanliness EVER! Seriously dudes! You are going to walk me to my table through an empty bar area, and I am going to pass several napkins AND chicken wings bones on the floor – pay attention!Awful – just awful. DO NOT GO HERE!
Meh really sums up my restaurant week experience at 24grille. Sadly, even from making the reservation (which was insanely difficult for 2 people a week in advance) to the actual food 24grille was mediocre at best. The negative experience began when somehow said reservation was lost and the hostesses seemed to be put out to seat us (again the reservation was made a week in advance for 2 people at 5pm in an EMPTY restaurant!).The food – I was expecting wow and again I got meh. Quite frankly I can prepare food that is better than what we ordered. I ordered the Shepperd’s Pie made with short ribs…. what I received tasted like a rubbery pot roast (and was presented as such since it was actually a deconstructed Shepperd’s Pie which was mentioned nowhere on the menu!). The other person in my party ordered the Hanger Steak which was alright and was served with cold sweet potato puree. For dessert we ordered the Panacotta and Blueberry Cheesecake…. both were bland! How can you screw up dessert? The Panacotta was a drippy flavorless mess… it was supposed to be served with a bacon cherry compote (all I tasted was rhubarb with no bacon to be had!). The Blueberry cheesecake is anything but a cheesecake again it was bland and not sweet in any way. The blueberries were frozen and the whole thing just tasted like nothing. We literally left half of each dessert at the table and that was after we both had shared the other portion.I will never be returning to 24grille. I was extremely disappointed. It also didn’t help that parking was an additional $7.00 and it took over 20 minutes to get my car. I have visited Wolfgang Puck previously for Restaurant Week and while I hate having to go to the casino that was an excellent meal and experience. Quite frankly I would have much rather gone to The Hill in Grosse Pointe, paid full price and had a phenomenal meal instead of mediocre meal that we were served.
Awesome!. I have been to many restaurants lately, and I can’t stop thinking about the Root Beer-Braised Ribs I had a few months ago. I just looked up the menu online, I am disappointed they are not included on their spring menu. They were so good! I tried to replicate the ribs at home, epic failure! The food and service were both excellent. The place is somewhat pricey, but you should know that going into the place. What I really enjoy about 24 grille, is it is a fine dining establishment, but with a casual atmosphere. Some patrons are wearing a suit, some t-shirt and jeans… and everything in between. I wish I was wealthy so I could make at least a weekly visit!
Group Outing. I dined at the 24grille last night and the food was not good at all. The Lamb shank was so tough that I am still picking it out of my teeth. The fish was also tough and the steak had to be sent back. My dessert that should have been the same as the others but was missing the cherries. It appeared to me that the food had been prepared earlier, dried out, then heated up for us. When we told the waiter the food was not good, they never came out to apologize. That is my last visit there.
Very Good and I’m Discerning :). I thought this was very good – we had fish tacos, the steak with blue cheese and peppercorns, truffle mac and cheese and a few other things — and a malt. All were very good, a cut above average for sure. In fact, when I first went I gave it a 7.5 out of ten… having been disappointed at a few upscale joints in the Detroit area lately, I’d say in relative terms it might be even higher ;)! Great drinks, good service, lovely ambiance and fun to wander over and check out the hotel! It was also very quiet when we were there which was nice, we were a little early for dinner 5/6pm.
