The Firebird Tavern was the perfect spot for our rehearsal dinner / welcome party. They rent out the second floor for private events, and it was perfect for our group of 90. We were drawn to Firebird because we loved the historic building, exposed bricks and central Greektown location. The space is well equipped for a rehearsal dinner since they have a good sound system (you can play your own music from an iPad or iPod), wireless microphone, and TVs through the room that are linked to an Apple TV (so we could play a video montage for our guests). The buffet of food was delicious. Monica (the events manager), Tony (the owner) and the entire staff were very helpful and great to work with. The Firebird Tavern was the perfect spot to kick off our wedding weekend. We highly recommend the Firebird for a rehearsal dinner, shower or private event.

Nice place. Our server (the bartender) was very amiable and on top of everything. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and quick to answer questions or make suggestions. You can tell that taking pride in your work is something that permeates the employees here. The cooks were all wearing professional attire and you could tell that they took their biz seriously. This came through in the food, too. The homemade beer cheese and pretzel were great (pretzel could have used some kosher salt , but a small detail). My coworker got the Steak Frites and liked them (they look hella good). I had the Classic Corned Beef and it was perfect. It’s too bad they don’t offer a Reuben, because it’d be stellar. Prices were reasonable and the whole experience was nice. I’d go back anytime. Oh, they also have Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout on tap, so that is a major plus.

Terrible management. My friends and I go to Firebird on a regular basis, and have spent plenty of money. But after last night most likely will not be going back after our experience. We had meet a birthday party there around midnight and they were seated at the table in back in the first level. Everyone decided to go upstairs, 4 of us stayed behind to get a drink. All the sudden a waitress starts telling us we didn’t pay a bill at the table. Which none of us had a tab at. After trying to explain that is was someone else at the table and one of us could try to go find them upstairs and get them so they could pay. Before we were able to the owner walks out from the back. He started to accuse and yell at us for the same thing (his breath reeked of alcohol, clearly drunk). My bf tried to explain what happen and the owner tried to start a fight with him. After standing at the bar awkwardly blocked in by these two, we decided to pay the $24.00 tab. Just so we could try and enjoy the hour left at the bar to celebrate a birthday. Won’t be heading back after this display of poor customer service.
