Very Hit And Miss (More Miss Though). I had this place one evening (first time) and could not wait to go back. I loved the fish tacos – they were amazing. Other times after that, the fish was wayyy over cooked (texture of chicken), too much cilantro, too much onion. Not to mention, if you go at noon, plan on getting your food at 1 (if they remember to make it). Overall, they’ve left a bad taste in my mouth (literally) and I’ll end up finding other venues to eat that can make my food properly and promptly.

Delicious and fresh!. I’ve been to quite a few Mexican places and I can tell you this one is very near the top on my list! Although the wait times are what you’d expect from a traditional sit down restaurant, the quality EXCEEDS most of said restaurants. A few friends and I stopped by after an event at Ford field and were sitting and eating our deliciousness within 20 minutes. The pricing is competitive compared to the amount of food and the quality of food you get. Also another a tribute that I find rare in this food genre is that they are vegetarian and vegan friendly! The amount of ingredients then give you offer a world of tastes that appear to explode upon your taste buds during your first bite. I highly recommend that you allow your taste buds to explore the amazing foods that Hot Taco has to offer.

Ridiculous wait times. Waited over an hour for 6 tacos on a Tuesday night. Not even a weekend or event night. Food was all sorts of messed up. They forgot to put onions and cilantro on my tacos. I told them salsa on the side more than once and still they put salsa on my taco. Definitely not worth an hour wait. It’s like they cook one taco at a time between three cooks. Unless u have all day for a meal and like messed up orders, I do not suggest eating here!

I don’t know what happened, but this isn’t the same place those other reviewers reviewed. What a difference a year makes! The tacos are fresh, made to order and delish! Prices are resonable considering you are getting real food, fresh meats and house made guacamole. My kids beg to go here anytime we are south of Eight Mile. Best kept taco secret close to Lions and Tigers. It’s our new go-to pre-game stop. Bravo!

Progressively worse. The first time I had a burrito (spicy chicken) from Hot Taco is was incredible. Huge, inexpensive and tasted great. Then the next time I went and ordered the same thing it was… just not as good. It was smaller and there were less fillings (avocado and sour cream was missing, etc). The third time my burrito had a fist sized clump of plain white rice in the middle. Last time (and final attempt), it was just flat out gross. The meat had no seasoning, I again got some mystery clump of unseasoned white rice, and again was missing the sour cream. The shop was completely empty when I was there, so I can’t even let it slide for being understaffed / overworked. It sucks because that first time, I was hooked. I really want to like this place, but they have just gotten worse each time.

How does a mediocre taco take 25 minutes when the restaurant is empty? I have no idea, ask them… They are pros at it. Avoid, unless you love to wait.

Not so hot. Tried the chicken and steak tacos, the were small and nothing special; Mexicantown restaurants are much better!
