All four adults in our group ordered the pulled pork platter (which included a side and a cheddar jalapeno corn muffin). Our orders were all correct; the pulled pork had a nice smokiness to it without being too strong; the sauces were spicy (to me) but it was nice to have a selection; the sides were all ample; I did not like the cheddar jalapeno corn muffins but that is preference (there was nothing wrong with them). The pricing is average for the area, not something we would routinely do as it was almost $40 for two meals with no drinks (the food was worth it, we just budget to cook at home a lot).
Pretty good barbeque and yummy sauces. Came here with a group recently and despite being really busy, the server did a great job. I’ll be back because of the customer service.
Better than Slows BBQ by a mile. Had lunch here at about 11:40 on a Thursday and got seated immediately. Sever and hostess were both friendly. Nice ambiance and full of professionals on business lunches. I got the Pulled Pork Platter with Mac-n-Cheese, my colleague got the Brisket Platter with Mac. We both agreed that the cornbread looked good, but was dry and pretty flavorless. The Mac had a great flavor, but I will say that the sauce was a bit thin. The pulled pork was excellent. A nice mild to medium smoke flavor, plenty of dark outer pieces and all perfectly moist. Their sauces are very nice as well. Not too hot, not too sweet (but on the sweet side), with a fair variety and mix ability. My colleague said his brisket was perfect, too. We agreed that it beat Slows mercilessly, but was still well below the benchmark set by Bad Brads BBQ. It also wasn’t particularly cheap, but was good enough that I didn’t feel ripped off. I’d go again.
Side dish heaven!. If you like BBQ, you’ll love Red Smoke! It competes with Blue Tractor (Traverse City) as the best BBQ joint in Michigan. Red Smoke was recommended to us because of all the delicious side dishes. They make all of their own sauces, and they are all on the sweet/molasses side. None of their sauces are very smokey or rely much on vinegar. We like having the five sauces on the table so you can try them all and pick your favorite.
Ok nothing special. Ok BBQ & Gumbo should be taken off the menu or recreated because it is disgusting
Had a half rack of babies and brisket. Brisket was fatty, not very smokey. Ribs were chewy, fatty. Overall the food was very mediocre. I do much better at home, and I’m no expert.
Was excited to try; nearly inedible back ribs. Fought trying to cut them into piece and get any meat off. Left more than half untouched as couldn’t eat them. Cornbread was okay, sweet and dry. Coleslaw extremely sweet as well. Overall left somewhat hungry. Service acceptable.
