I’ve ordered from Lucky House for a long time now and until now, despite the awful customer service and the fact they are constantly late every time (by an hour and a half or so), I didn’t see the point of complaining. However this time, after placing my order for General Tso’s Tofu (which I know is a vegetarian dish as the lady on the phone told me many times before) I got my meal with pork fried rice. I have been a vegetarian for over 6 years for religious reasons and when I called Lucky House, distressed and thinking that the order must have gotten mixed up, she told me that the General Tso’s Tofu comes with pork fried rice and an egg roll. This obviously is a new combo they are doing and I explained the situation and instead of her admitting the issue and apologizing (which I would have accepted and moved on) she tried to blame me. Instead of taking fault and having a new one delivered she demanded I come into the store and pick up a new one (which I can’t due to the fact I don’t own a car). After her continuing to insist the situation was my fault I told her I wouldn’t be ordering anymore from them if this is how they handled their customers. She then scoffed and HUNG UP ON ME. I have been a customer since I moved to the area but I WILL NOT BE ORDERING AGAIN.
Greasy and inconsistent. The food is very greasy, has no taste, and I don’t know how they stay in business. Maybe because they are only chinese (alleged) that deliver. I ordered some spare ribs that were all fat and no flavor. My chicken dish was uncooked and greasy too. Don’t order from this restaurant, it is a waste of money. I threw my order in the garbage.
We get food here at least once a month, always good- the pork lomein is great along with the generals chicken. Never had a problem with any order. There is a chinese place about every 100 yards in lansing, so don’t expect Chinatown.
Absolutely Atrocious attempt at edible food. I ordered by phone from this place. Now granted my last chinese meal was a few weeks ago at Phillipe Chow on the upper east side of manhattan. however i would never compare the two. The order first of all was botched i ordered small fried rice and yet they order the most expensive size for me. The rice was basically steamed rice with soy in it and they called it fried. the kung pao chicken was not fit for my dog and I’m not sure what the meat was in the beef fried rice. I highly suggest you pass this restaurant up as there are far better places in your city to waste your money. if this were in my city the owners would be run out of town for serving such trash. words of wisdom to the owner GO TO COOKING SCHOOL YOUR FOOD SUCKS!!!!!
Zog must actually like the place if he’s ordered several times. I love the food. Everything is delicious and a good value. My family has been eating their food for years, and loves it.
We’ve ordered several times from Lucky House, and they have a definite problem with consistancy. This last time the hot & sour soup smelled like manure and tasted not much better than I’d imagine manure would either…no idea what was wrong with it. My chicken was very overcooked, as was the lo mein, which also had large clumps of hoison sauce throughout rendering it inedible. The egg roll was ok, but clearly not homemade. Honestly, the only parts of the meal done properly were the steamed rice and fortune cookies. I’ve also had very well made food here, but not in a while…if you are in a lurch for Chinese food delivery in okemos you might give them a try–but don’t be surprised if you can’t eat half of what you order…Update (Jan 2012): Had an EXCELLENT meal from here recently! Decided to give it another shot and was surprised by how much better it was. The garlic string beans were wonderful and the sesame chicken was likewise great (although mostly dark meat). The Egg Drop/Wonton soup mix is worth a try if you are into both of those usually. The egg roll and fried rice that came with the sesame chicken combinatin platter were substandard (which seems to be the way of combo plates at most chinese places) but overall a great improvement. We’ll be ordering again!
