Under New Management – Again!. Sahara’s has changed hands again – its current incarnation is Ozzy’s Kebab – and the new management seems determined to turn things around. It’s still the same familiar setup – down to the buffet (although they’ve added a salad aread), the restaurant layout and the artwork on the walls. But many of the little things have changed for the better.Service has clearly been made a priority – service is friendly, and now drinks are refilled promptly and your server comes by to check on your food – crazy! Even for the lunch buffet a server has always asked if we have any questions about the food and has asked if anything could be improved for future visits. They are definitely on the right track. The food is still very similar and on the lunch buffet small improvements abound. A salad and soup area has been added with the same delicious fattoush salad and hummous as well as 4 types of soup. This opens the buffet up for more variety – which they fill with a mix of options. We’ve noticed some days they seem to emphacize vegetarian food with stews and dishes like veggie gallaya, but other days the only warm choices are falafal, fried califlower and fries. This is really our only complaint as my wife is often limited by the extensive meat options (sometimes 3 types of chicken, a lamb dish and a meat stew). But for most diners, this will undoubtedly be well-received. We haven’t been to their dinner service yet, so can’t speak to changes there, but just judging from their lunch, they have drastically upped their game. Give Ozzy’s a try – it’s worth it!05 Jan, 2012Best in Lansing. How do the stay open?. The food is great, but even though the place is always empty, the service is slow as molasses. The food is worth the slow service though.

Loved Sahara’s with both managers. We started eating here in 2005. The restaurant has had a change in management. I prefered the service after the change. I haven’t eaten at Sahara’s since we moved (about 19 months ago). However, unless something has drastically changed, Sahara’s is very good.Sahara’s babaghanoush sets the bar, and it sets it high. Their baba has a smokiness that I have yet to accomplish at home. Isn’t that what good restaurant food is about? When I eat out I want to have something that I can’t make at home. The tabbouleh here made tabbouleh my husband’s favorite food. Fresh, tangy, minty- awesome. If you’re out with kids, order a hummus or baba app and let the kids eat that while you wait for your meal.Their kibbe is my absolute favorite. You’ll get more flavor than just garlic and cumin. Tender and juicy!Their falafel is good.Love their peach tea!
