Stillwater Grill. This restaurant is very inconsistent, some things they do ok, but they horrendously miss the mark so often its disturbing. I have had shrimp there that was more like jerky than shrimp, if you cant get shrimp correct its pure neglect. Soup, lobster bisque so salty it was in editable while others at the table seemed to have at least edible food, mostly salads. The prices should reflect excellent food but disappoint. My company use to meet there for business lunches, but protests from clients has changed that; we no longer go there.

One of the better dinner spots in lansing. We have never been disappointed at Stillwater. Both the service and food has always been very good. Most recently when we went I ordered the Chesapeake Filet, which was a special, and it was amazing, of course for $36 it better be. It looked like an archipelago with a mass of steak sitting in the center, topped with crab meat, and surrounded by a sea of roasted red pepper crab bisque, and islands of roasted red potatoes. I ate everything, it was delicious.I’m not sure as to the quality of the crab, it was very fine meat, not lump, and may have been canned. Could the dish have been improved with lump blue crab meat on the steak? Yes. Can I get that anywhere in Lansing? No, so I won’t hold it against them. The wife got the tuscan filet, which would have been my choice had this special not sounded so good. It is a filet topped with a creamy blend of italian herbs and cheeses. She liked it, who wouldn’t? Both steaks were cooked appropriately. I got a caesar salad, here I think they could have done a little better. Both the croutons and the dressing were over salted. That is typical of many places though and I may have a more sensitive palate. I also got french onion soup, and while good, was also slightly over salted or perhaps too acidic. Gilbert and Blakes across the street has better (amazing) French Onion soup (but IMO not better entrees). My wife got a lobster bisque that was sweet, and creamy, and everything you would expect in a lobster bisque. The salads came free with the entrees, which is a nice value considering many competitors at this price point don’t include a salad. Service was good. No complaints there. Definitely would return. There are so few nice places to eat in Lansing, consistent anyways. Our ticket for two with the extra soups, two tenderloins, 1 glass of wine, and no desert, was a round $100.

Not good. Four of us ate there last week. The service was excellent, but the food was not. I had the prime rib, which apparently is one of their signature dishes, at a cost of $22, but it lacked flavor. Others had Tilapia and Perch and both were flavorless at a cost of $24 and $26 respectively. A restaurant charging as much as this one, should be able to deliver tasty entries. We also had two orders of Calamari, which was not very good. The bill came to nearly $150 with gratuity and we drank only water. It was my second visit and my last.

My husband, cousin, and I went here for dinner one evening. It was our first visit, and we were all disappointed. The food wasn’t great nor terrible. It was so blah it was forgettable. The only real lasting impression we had was one if extremely poor service. The restaurant wasn’t overly busy on our visit yet we still waited almost 10 minutes for our drink order to be taken, and not by our waitress. It took her around 25-30 minutes to grace us with her presence and take our food order after we sat down, and the place was only about half full. We could see her goofing off with other staff and texting in the distance. When all was said and done we had spent close to 2.5 hrs there, and not in a leisurely meal type way. We have not gone back since. If the food were better we would consider it, but to us it’s just not worth it for the price and terrible service.

Best Steak Around!. Went on a Saturday night – it was busy, but for good reason! The staff seemed to be stretched a little thin, but the food more than made up for it! I highly recommend the Cajun Tenderloin Tips! Their equivalent to chicken strips is also homemade and delicious! Well worth the price!

The Cajun steak tips are one of my favorite entrees in Lansing. The dining room is nice and service is good.

Soup and Sandwich – $12. Got a bowl of tepid lobster bisque and a 1/2 chicken sandwich for $12 today. Not the best soup, not the best sandwich. Disappointing meal, but good service and great atmosphere.
