Lula’s is good. Very good. They serve a wide variety of food you can’t get anywhere else in Mid-Michigan. From the lower priced Po Boys, to the award winning fried chicken with bacon gravy sauce, to my wife’s favorite (shrimp Curwood), Lula’s food is made with care, presented beautifully, and doesn’t skimp on flavor. Service is always on point and friendly. Atmosphere is fun and beautiful (especially with the welcome addition of Lily Pearls). Downfalls are that the dining area is small making it hard to navigate. Food takes time to come out, don’t be in a hurry (worth the wait). In the weekend evenings, they have fantastic live entertainment, but loud with a capitol L. Was miserable with kids at that time in the dining area (great for an evening out, but not the best with young kids- my bad).Since they opened, Lula’s has brought something different to Owosso. Their mere signage and presence began the downtown resurgence and the accolades (top restaurant, best fried chicken in Michigan) have brought excitement that Owosso really needed. An absolute must if in the area.

The fried pork belly appetizer is a great way to start off a special meal. I’ve been here a couple times. I appreciate the time and effort they put into their fried chicken. It shows a dedication to perfection of a simple dish, but taken to another level. The bacon gravy was killer and that is coming from someone who usually avoids gravy. My personal favorite is the Baptism Etouffee with crawfish tails. It has a little kick of heat and bursts with creole flavor.Don’t pass this one up if you are ever in Owosso.

Oh My My, This is my new place for sure’ my husband and I are here for the first time but not the last. Food is plate licking good. We split the tour of New Orleans and what a ride! We will be back soon to try the Sunday Jazz Brunch.

Closest thing to NOLA without going there!. Lula’s Cajun is second to none! We drive 35 miles every time we get the chance and are never disappointed! We’ve tried nearly everything on the menu including many of their every-changing specials. The food is always excellent and you leave wanting to come back for more. They offer vegetarian and gluten-free options as well. The restaurant is small but homey and chances are you’ll see the owner, John, over-seeing the restaurant and speaking to patrons. Alcohol isn’t served but you won’t need it to enjoy yourselves or your food. Live music is frequently offered on weekend evenings and Sunday brunch. It’s tasteful and never so loud you can’t hold a conversation. Their menu changes slightly with the seasons. I’ve never had something I didn’t care for but some things I liked better than others. Their fried chicken is the best next to my great granny and you’ll surely want to order extra cream gravy. Their french fries are shoe strings but they’re awesome for sopping up any extra sauce left on your plate. My old standby is the Rebel Without a Cause. It’s a pile of crawfish tails served over two pieces of Lula bread (garlic toast made out of their homemade french rolls used for po’ boy sandwiches) topped with a bacon cream sauce. It’s enough to stuff you for one meal or fill you up and take half home. You can’t leave without having dessert. That being said, we NEVER order dessert in a restaurant. Their beignets are just like Cafe Dumonde in New Orleans. The Bananas Jodie are delightful if you like crepes. The best thing on the menu, yes – the entire menu, is their key lime pie. It’s creamy, silky, and not a hint of anything fake about it.Give Lula’s a try – you won’t be disappointed!

Well worth the trip if you enjoy Cajun food!. In sleepy Owosso we have this little gem of a restaurant, which offers hearty portions of Louisiana food, always exquisitely prepared. Be sure to check the specials which can be truly amazing. And if the specials don’t appeal, you can’t go wrong with the Jambalaya. Highly recommended!

Amazing find so close to home. Amazing food. Jambalaya was incredible. Creole sushi (yes, sushi!) was a delicious twist

Tom McDonagh. This place is an absolute Gem! I searched US for a new restaurant in the area. Turns out they’ve been there a year. I had the Chicken Ondaway per the waitresses suggestion. What flavor, the green beans were excellent also. John, the chef came out to greet everyone and the rest of the staff was very pleasant. I’ll be back.
