As per usual our dining experience was awesome…. With the exception of the service. But that’s the exception & not the rule. Saw someone post something about bugs and for all the years I’ve been coming here I have never seen any bugs EVER! This place is meticulously clean.14 Feb, 2013THE Best Chinese anywhere…. This is hands down the best Chinese restaurant. We have never had a bad dish in the many years we have been dining here. If you like heavy, salt-laden, pasty-thick gravies on your Chinese food, DON’T go here. Everything is fresh and light and delicious and expertly prepared. The Shanghai Lo Mein is outstanding as is the ABC, Sesame Chicken, Egg Foo Young, Shrimp Fried Rice… you name it.The place is meticulously clean and beautiful. You could eat off the bathroom floor. The ONLY flaw in the ambiance is the lighting. Way too bright so it doesn’t feel like the fine dining experience that it is.If you’re looking for velvet flocked wallpaper and hanging lanterns you’re in the wrong place. Clean, simple, classic.
One of the best in the area!. This food is a tiny bit more expensive than your corner Chinese restaurant but well worth it! In fact, some prices are even cheaper depending on what you order. We’ve been eating there for around 35 years. The chicken is always tender as well as the beef. Some Chinese places, the beef is tough and the chicken tastes like it’s been in the fridge for a couple of days. Not here. The food is fresh and the moo shoo pancakes are to die for. So different than the run of the mill rice paper pancakes. Try this place once anyway.
Don’t waste your taste on Gim Ling. Ordered a carryout from Gim Ling. Sesame chicken was tasteless and bland. Sweet and sour chicken was soggy and not golden brown. I have heard for years that Gim Ling was terrific so I tried it but alas it’s a no go.
Disappointed and here’s why…. Growing up in SCS Gim Ling was the family Friday night out dinner. I grew up with it and always loved it. I’ve been going there for over 30 years. A month or so ago, my daughter and I went for lunch, soup and egg rolls is all we ordered. Everything looked and tasted great until I looked at the crunchy noodle things you put in your soup. There were all kinds of little dead bugs in them. They looked like fruit flies. My daughter and I were appalled and it immediately turned my appetite. We made it obvious to the server that this was an issue and all I can say is I will never return there. What a major disappointment to one of my favorite places. Honestly folks, the bugs were blatant….not like they couldn’t be seen. yulk!
Not what I paid for…. I went to the restaurant for the first time this past week with my mother. She had been there before and had enjoyed it. The restaurant is 35 mins from where we live, but since we were already in the area, we decided to go there for lunch. She ordered the lobster egg foo young and I got sesame chicken. We got it to go as the retauraunt was near freezing on a nice 65 degree day. To their credit our food was still hot when we got it home. HOWEVER, they substituted the lobster that my mother ordered, which was $17, for the shrimp foo young. A $9 difference! When we called to point out the error, we were told that we received what was ordered. I think everyone can agree that lobster and shrimp do not have the same color, texture, shape or taste. When we asked for a voucher for a future visit or at least to have the option to return the barely eaten meal the next day, not able to return that evening, we were told that would not be possible. We would have to return the meal that day for a refund. I’ve never owned a restaurant, but I’m pretty sure there is a way to label orders so that this mistake does not happen. And I’m also sure they’ve never charged someone for shrimp egg foo young and given them lobster by mistake. I think the whole thing is a scam to upcharge for a basic dish. If you plan on ordering this dish, make sure you dine in.
Flavor without salt. It is hard to find any type of restaurant whose proprietors have belief in the ability to create strong, authentic, mouth-filling flavors without falling back on salt to provide taste, but the chefs at this wonderful spot do just that. The chicken dishes taste like chicken. The veggies are crisp and fresh, and taste like veggies. Yum times ten! My husband and I are going to be eating here a LOT! Join us, and let’s support QUALITY.
Very frequent Chinese food eater.. Now Ill start this off by saying that I’ve read a reviews for each Chinese food place within 15 mile radius of my house and with this place having such good reviews/ratings I had to try it out. First impression of even calling them was the woman who had answered the phone was very polite and friendly, this isnt something you always see… she gave me directions on how to reach the location as well. I ordered General Tso’s chicken dinner combo, and crab rangoon. The presentation alone of the food is just great, it not only smells delicious, it looks its part too. The crab rangoon was just very tasty, id have to say it was one of the best ive had ever. The General tso’s chicken… very flavorful, full of spice and well prepared and ill rate that on one of the best ive had as well. My final verdict is that I will definitely be going back here as well of telling anyone I know that this place is just great. I only went in to pick it up as well, but the environment is really nice too.
