The atmosphere was enjoyable and things appeared to be clean and trendy. We are happy with the gluten-free menu and that the soups are also GF. Our party found the tacos tasty and the spice was nice with the avocado. There are a few things keeping it from being perfect. The night we visited it seemed our waitress was a little distracted by a group of friends that showed up to celebrate a birthday. It wasn’t bad enough to mention anything though. Also the night we were there is one where they were out of the creme brle so we were not able to have dessert. Our bill was still pretty significant even without dessert. Dropped in for an early dinner here just recently. New owners, new menu and new staff have really improved the dining experience over previous iterations of restaurants in this space. The building itself is an historic roadhouse with ties to the Detroit Rumrunners of Prohibition. The interior has been updated and shined to a gloss by the owners and staff. The Current is called an American Fusion restaurant, for the foods it features. But the menu is approachable and encompassing, so that it’s attractive to singles, couples and families with kids. Two of us hadterrific meals coupled with courteous service. Of note on our visit, the bar got my drink order wrong, and when I pointed this out to our server, she immediately wanted to correct the error, but I demurred after taking a sip of what was delivered (I found I liked the drink set in front of me!). A moment later, the Dining Room Manager stopped by toapologize and replace the drink. Again I refused. But these responses from the staff did impress both of us. So, it is easy for me to say I’ll return here to sample more of the menu. And, I will recommend it to others.
