Highly recommend take out, seating is a bit limited but comfy for small groups. This is family dinner that abuela would make for you, you can taste the love. My kids love the fresh tamales. Staff is super friendly. Don’t expect Tex-mex and don’t bring credit cards.
No Frills, No Non-sense, Straight forward authentic Mexican food. If you like Tex-Mex, this is not for you. This is un-gringo-ized Mexican food, like what you would get in Mexican Town in Detroit, but better because it’s local. The owner’s are great. Always friendly. I highly recommend the Guidada de Res. It’s like a beef stew. So good I had to learn how to make it. Mine is good, but still not as good as Elsa’s. And if you want breakfast, their Chilaquiles are excellent also. Everything is good.
Told I was a liar. I ordered some things that was delivered and they forgot the chips and salsa in my order and i decided to go in person to get my chips and salsa since i was in the area which i did pay for and never got and was told to ask for them on my next order and when i did this in person i was all but flat out called a liar and wouldn’t give me the chips and salsa i was promised, i will not be ordering from these guys anymore.
Best Mexican food Downriver (and lots of other places, too). We just tried this hidden gem crammed into a block of businesses off Northline, and have to give it four thumbs up (between the two of us). The combo dinner was outstanding, featuring a delicious beef burrito, a fresh crispy taco, a cheesy enchilada, and the best tamale I’ve ever had. I got mine with a side of guacamole, which was fresh and outstanding, and when I asked for a side of pico de gallo (per the name), they went into the kitchen and chopped me up a batch. It was fresh, zesty, and memorably delicious. There’s nothing of this quality Downriver, so if you are looking for a new Mexican place to try, definitely stop by Pico de Gallo.
Downrivers only true Mexican food. Taco’s the old style way on two thin corn tortillas and topped with onion and cilantro which is only found in Southwest Detroit has made it Downriver. Many specials of taco’s $ 1 each and homemade Tamales only $ 7.99 per dozen. The salsa, rice and beans make for a well rounded meal. Very small seating area holds maybe 12 persons. The also serve many Mexican soups like my favorite Pozole along with a super Botana loaded with chorizo which is a must try. albeerpoe.blogspot.com
