We made the mistake of making reservations for a large party at Mexican Village to host a surprise party for my father. On our arrival the host was very rude and told us that they never should have taken our reservation. 30 min later still no seats and ruined our surprise party. We called El Rancho and they offered to seat us on the spot. We moved the party and EL Rancho saved the day for us. Seated us on our arrival and provided the best service and excellent food even being short handed and not ready for a party our size. I will never dine any ware else when in town for excellent Mexican food. You will not be disappointed with both the quality of food and service that their excellent staff provide. Thank you EL Rancho Staff, you were the best!!!!

30 Years WOW a Celebration of Great Meals. Been a few years since I was able to get back to this great eating spot making wonder why I’ve not be a regular. The favorite Mexican dish of mine is very hard to find other then a few folks on my block that make me some every year. The dish Chicken Mole is a super moist tender chicken leg and thigh doused with the most flavorful amazing sauce ever.Three states in Mexico claim to be the origin of mole, Puebla, Oaxaca and Tlaxcala.[2] The states with the best known moles are Puebla and Oaxaca, but other regions in Mexico also make various types of mole sauces.[3]Moles come in various flavors and ingredients, with chili peppers as the common factor. However, the classic mole version is the variety called mole poblano, which is a dark red or brown sauce served over meat.Ingredients that have been added into moles include nuts, peanuts, pine nuts, sesame seed, pumpkin and/or squash seeds, cilantro, seedless grapes, plantains, garlic, onion, cinnamon, chocolate and more. What remained the same was the use of chili peppers, especially ancho, pasilla, mulato and chipotle, and the consistency of the sauce. The work that goes into making this sauce is very time consuming and I love a special Mexican Chocolate powder added to the Mole Sauce that the lady across the street makes for me that she gets each year on there trip to Mexico. To date this place has the very best I’ve ever eaten in the few restaurants that have it on the menu. This will keep me coming back for mucho more.Wife had the grande jumbo Botona loaded with lots of goodies and Chorizo which was very good. My next trip will include the Flaming Mexican Ice Cream that flamed at your table with Brandy,,,, just like the Greek Saganki. Started in 1983 this place is next door to my favorite meat market off all time which we shopped at today E & L SUPER MERCADO. ENJOY and get on down to Southwest Detroit soon.10 Jan, 201128 Years of great food. You know there doing it right to survive 28 years of great Mexican foods.
