Response to Love Shiela’s post. After reading your post(from March 12,2012) I had to comment. If you began going to this bakery in 2000 then you were going to Cousin’s Bakery not Sheila’s.I was employed there from 1995 until they sold the business in 2005. They had been in business for nearly 60 years. Cousin’s laid the ground work for Sheila’s. I’m not knocking Sheila’s, it is a great bakery I just don’t want Cousin;s to be forgotten.

Mega selection of Super Mexican Pastries. Love the fresh large selection of cakes, cookies and breads, I think i found a new favorite bakery in Southwest Detroit. They open at 6 am each day and fresh hot coffee too. The displays are a work of art as well the painted murals on the outside of the store. Just one block off W. Vernor and Springwells the hood I grew up in. great friendly service with a smile and the largest selections of specialty decorated cakes I’ve ever seen. A large platter of baked goods came to only $ 6 pricing is very cheap for quality products. A must try, worth the trip to Southwest Detroit I tell you. albeerpoe.blogspot.com

Love sheilas. I been going to sheilas for years since my 1st daughter was born in 2000, I needed a bday cake at the last minute, and shelias came through and the cake was winnie the pooh, it was beautiful an the frosting is soooo good, its not sweet its whipped an just right, now my daughter is 11, and we always get cupcakes for her school parties and bday cakes for now 3 more kids, anything you can think of they’ll make it. Love ya sheilas.

AMAZING!!. This place is wonderful. Besides the fact that it is a superb mexican style bakery with typical mexican baked goods, the cakes are amazing. No dry cake and greasy frosting here…i order my daughters Quinceanera Cake here, the crowd applauded, then my neices shower cake then a holiday Tres Leches cake, all wonderful, moist, pretty and tasty. The Guests raved and i was delighted!!! You can’t go wrong! (Before we chose this bakery we went to many metro area french and italian bakeries before selecting this one) The service is excellent as well!!

A gem. 4 huge pastries = $31 large coffee = $1you would get a similar (albeit less tasty) fare at starbucks or another chain bakery/coffee place for probably $15.the cake fridge was stocked with a variety of beautiful cakes. if you don’t want a full cake, they have some pre-cut slices in the fridge too. try the tres leches!would be AWESOME if Sheila got a table and a few seats to sit and enjoy a pastry and coffee in the store.
