After more than a week in northwestern Michigan we had our first outstanding meal! I would surmise that there aren’t many foodie types in the area. We were fortunate to secure an online reservation for 730 in the evening. We ate in the bar with our children, our choice as we were hoping to catch a preseason game. Decent service in the bar. All of the food was outstanding I posted all the pictures of our dinner. The chefs creation risotto was yummy and the child’s steak was a great value. We had dessert too.

Average. Slow service, average food. We went for oysters, they looked phenomenal, however, no crackers, no horseradish, no cocktail sauce. Apparently the chef doesn’t serve oysters with those sides -:(! So, we didn’t eat them. The scallops were outstanding, the shrimp risotto was bland and came with only 4 shrimp. We won’t return.

Lovely brunch. We stopped by for a mid-afternoon bite and had a delightful lunch with a great wine that was suggested by chef. The servers were personable and attentive and the food was prepared well and tasty. We enjoyed the experience and will be back.

Didn’t meet expectations. It’s taken us a long time to get to Foufou, even though we live here. I had high expectations, even though we have experienced poor service at the owner’s other restaurant, LaBecasse in Leelanau County. Our dinner started poorly with a cold greeting at the door. Literallyin that the entrance area is freezingbut also figuratively, from the hostess who didn’t even look at us until she had answered the phone and spoken with a staff member. We were seated perfunctorily in the middle of the restaurant, well away from the entrance, but there was an intense draft wafting through the dining room. It was distractingly uncomfortable. Our waiter was nice enough but had an affected air that must be part of the training here. We were never offered second drinks. Food arrived promptly and was delicious. Portions are smaller than the price seems to warrant. Overall, we just didn’t feel we were treated like valued customers. The food, while tasty, wasn’t so much better than several other places downtown that offer better service and slightly lower prices.

What a lovely find! Absolutely loved the atmosphere, service and food. Great cocktails too! My husband had the Moroccan shrimp and loved it. A MUST in traverse city dining.

Amazing dinner!. We went for our anniversary night dinner to Bistro Foufou, and it was perfect. The restaurant design is appealing and stylistic, with a comfortable elegance. The appetizers were superb, showing care in both preparation and presentation (true with all the dishes we had). My wife had the frog legs, which she absolutely loved. I thoroughly enjoyed the lamb with root vegetables. The flavors and seasonings of this dish all worked together perfectly. For dessert, the baked apple with salted caramel, was both delicious and refreshing (as opposed to a dessert that feels too heavy). My wife enjoyed a sparkling pinot noir based wine, and I, on the advice of our knowledgeable waiter’s recommendation, had a Beaujolais (And NO, not the Nouveau variety…the deep red, aged, variety). I am now a new fan of aged Beaujolais. Our waiter, Nick, was everything a top-notch server should be…attentive, timely, knowledgeable, and friendly. My wife and I both felt as if we were dining in Chicago, or Montreal. We left there that evening with that warm and glowing satisfaction that comes after a perfect dining experience. We both highly recommend Bistro Foufou, and will return again and again.
