The old gray haired grouchy lady (she may even be the owner) is the rudest person I’ve ever met at a restaurant. We spent a bunch of money for their below average food, and she made it very clear how eager she was for us and our kids to leave. We ate quickly so we could get our stroller out of the restaurant even though it wasn’t in anyone’s way and there was hardly anyone eating there, and then my wife had to breastfeed our 3 month old son. We went outside and sat in their chairs where there was literally no other visitors to the restaurant, and she decided to come out and again make sure we were leaving ASAP. Before we left she had the balls to give us a flier on how to order their crappy pasties and have them delivered right to our door. I felt like telling her to shove it…long story short, we will no longer visit this place (maybe we would consider it if someone came to their senses and fired her). Also, the girl that rang us out said that the employees don’t even get the tips that people leave, they go to the owner of the restaurant! If I could give this place a rating of lower than 1 I would.
Really good pasties, really fresh and convenient, I docked 1 star because it seems like the employees are scared to fart, almost like the owner guy has them locked in the dungeon at night and let’s them out when it’s time to sell pasties…other than that it’s a great place for lunch lol
Great food, nice people. I was visiting Traverse City from New Mexico, and a friend brought me here, saying that they had excellent pasties. My dad is from the U.P., so I was familiar with pasties, and these most certainly did not disappoint! I had the traditional one and my friend had the Italian version. They were perfectly cooked, the crust nice and flakey, the meat and veggies tender and not at all dry. The offered the traditional ketchup as a condiment, but also had hot gravy at the table, along with mayonnaise if you preferred, or hot sauce, and the Italian pasty came with marinara sauce as a condiment. We ate ours, and took several half-baked ones with us to enjoy later. They have several different kinds of pasties, including ham and cheese and vegetarian, and whilst not traditional, they were still delicious, although the Italian one seemed more to me like a calzone with a different kind of crust, rather than a pasty. Cousin Jenny was there and took time to chat with us, and her husband checked on us throughout our meal to see if we needed anything else, and recommended several scenic areas to go sightsee at. I wish they would open a location in New Mexico and add some Hatch green chile to the pasties!
Very good, reasonable prices, very friendly staff, It always helps to be different, which sets them apart, just a good honest place, love the pink/strawberry lemonade!!
Nice place. What a pleasant surprise. Good food, creative assembly and presentation and all fresh. Great staff. Modest price. Can’t beat all that in downtown Traverse City.
Very nice lunch experience. Chicken pasty was good. Fruit bowl went beyond normal. Kid friendly and a cute decor too!
Great pasties! Reminds me of being back in England. Wonderful service too!
