Amazing. We ate at Mission Table during the summer of 2013 when my mother and her friends visited. Can’t say enough about the quality of food and attentiveness of the wait staff!

Delicious food in a beautiful setting. Had lunch here on the patio on a summer day. Staff was very attentive and friendly. The menu had so many options that sounded good, hard to choose. We had the pulled pork nachos and crepe with prosciutto and salad greens to share between myself and my husband. Portions were filling. They were very accommodating with our kids, bringing us sliced green apples and buttered noodles for them. We had a nice leisurely meal an never felt rushed. My husband loved their Majestic beer on tap. Afterwards, my husband did wine tasting on site. He particularly liked their Chardonnay, slightly sweet and smooth. Will return next trip to traverse city.

Butternut corn bisque was lovely, without being too sweet, which is a mistake so many people make. The lamb tagine was outstanding. Our waiter was very knowledgable about wine and helped us pick the perfect pairings. Their selection of Michigan wines includes bottles from other vineyards, not just their own, and the Brys Estates cab merlot holds its own against more popular (and mor expensive) California wines.

Best FIne Dining in Area. During a week-long visit to the Traverse City area, I tasked myself with the exciting experience of sampling as many area restaurants as possible. On this night, I was looking for a venue that served local seafood. After finding Walleye on Mission Table’s online menu, I called to make a reservation. When I inquired about the fish, I was informed that the Walleye was not on the menu for the night, though they would be happy to make it for me. Upon hearing this, I happily committed to my reservation. When I arrived, I found the venue to be a gorgeous old house overlooking Bower’s Harbor. The dining room was very clean and well-appointed, featuring stonework, exposed timbers on the ceiling, and a roaring fireplace. The lights were dimmed as the sun set, which accentuated the fireplace nicely. I felt that the ambiance was excellent for the price-point of this restaurant, which I certainly can’t say for other fine dining establishments I sampled in the area. I ordered the yellow spit-pea soup as an appetizer, and was impressed with the light, hot, flavorful creation that arrived. It was a satisfying dish that made a perfect appetizer, as it could have stood on its own for lunch as a larger portion. The portion size was perfect in that it stayed my hunger until my entree arrived, without ruining my appetite. When I ordered my Walleye entree, I asked for an accompaniment less starchy than the potatoes offered with the dish on the online menu. The waitress eagerly polled me on my preferences, and gladly offered to have the chef create a mushroom-based side as I requested. What arrived was a gorgeous, large portion of pan-seared walleye accompanied by a delicious mix of lentils and shiitake mushrooms, garnished with the most plump, fresh, delicious asparagus that I have ever tasted. The walleye was perfect, seared only in very light oil. The fish was so flavorful and flaky, and the chef wisely refrained from interfering with the natural taste by adding any dressings or sauces. I enjoyed my meal with a glass of chardonnay made on site from grapes grown on the peninsula, and it went extremely well with the Walleye. I was weary of ordering yet more wine after doing a fair bit of sampling in the days prior, but this selection was extremely enjoyable. For dessert I tried the spiced apple cake with a scoop of butter pecan ice cream. The flavor of the locally-sourced ingredients was readily apparent, and the small chunks of Michigan apples in the cake were a highlight of the dish. The dessert was very satisfying, yet did not weigh on me. It was the perfect complement to what was an excellent meal.I will be returning to Mission Table on my next visit to the area for several reasons:1. The staff is willing to go out of their way to satisfy customers. My requests were treated as opportunities to please rather than annoyances. I felt like my dinner was created just for me. My waitress was very pleasant yet not patronizing.2. The food is all locally-sourced. The freshness is readily apparent, and the flavors of the ingredients are paramount in the dishes. The chef does not rely on heavy garnishes or sauces to create amazing dishes. The best qualities of the ingredients are truly showcased and not wasted.3. The ambiance is excellent. I would recommend Mission Table for special dates or anniversaries. It also served as a great place for a professional business dinner as evidenced by the patrons at an adjoining table. It will not fail to impress potential clients. The view of Bower’s Harbor as the sun set is not soon to be forgotten.4. The value. I felt completely satisfied with my purchase when presented with the check. There were no additional charges for my custom requests, which really made my day. This was not the largest bill of my fine dining experiences in Traverse City, yet it easily brought me the most satisfaction among this class of restaurant. Thanks to the folks at Mission Table for one of the most enjoyable experiences of my visit to the area.

Good service. Decor lacking. Menu limited but good. Need to sit where you can see sunset to enjoy atmosphere – or other restaurants ( on the pennisula )are more comfortable.
