Fun oldies theme, food doesn’t match. Nice 1950s diner theme, but the chili cheese dog was a lame imitation of what one would expect. Sorry, Johnny, but the rocket fizzled.
We always eat here when we go to the Mall. No trip to Mall of America is complete w/o a stop in here. The food is good – especially the chilli cheese fries, burgers, and shakes. Playing the nickel jukeboxes on the counter is fun, but the best part is that they’ll add vanilla, chocolate, or lemon flavors to your pop if you ask for it. Never had a bad experience or a meal that wasn’t delicious here!
Johnny Rockets looks like a Fun Experience in Americana,& it is ,if you are expecting Greasy Spoon Fare.Limp French Fries, who knows what else has been cooked in that oil, gives me that ,oh too familiar, tummy ache that Vegetarians fear most,no details,no further commentary on the matter, wink wink.Malts good though, can’t speak to the burgers, not that Vegetarian friendly, but great place to watch people. The Fonz would love the place.2.5 out of 5 Tiara’s
It’s good, but…. I recently made a stop to Johnny Rockets at the Mall of America after several years. I remembered that the burgers there were good, and I thought I’d try them again. I had the Houston burger with jalapenos, and the burger itself did not disappoint. However, there are a couple of things that I don’t like about it. One, the burgers are expensive. On first glance, they don’t seem like they would be. And they are no different in price than places like Denny’s or Perkin’s, or maybe even a little bit cheaper. However, you only get a burger for the price you pay, no fries. So, $5 or $6 for a burger, and then you shell out more money for fries, it doesn’t seem worth it to me. I also ordered what the menu called a Big Apple Shake…the receipt referred to it as a shake of the month, apple pie shake. It seems like they likely put an apple turnover into a shake and blended it up, leaving a heavy crust of dough and pie chunks on the bottom of the glass. It tasted ok, though not something I would order again, and the consistency was very, very thin. All in all, it cost way too much for a mall food court, and the food quality didn’t seem worth the amount we paid.
