Pros: Nicely executed Minnesota log cabin theme with wild rice soup and walleye on the menu. Great baked potato. Cons: The details aren’t great on the food. I’ve eaten here twice. Both times my steak was flavorful, but I think it must have been frozen. It was not tender or juicy, but kind of dry and fibrous. I ordered medium rare and it was under done, which normally doesn’t bother me much but brings home the quality problem if a steak is both too rare and too dry. The baked potato was wonderful, but it was not the impressive oversized potato you’ll get at other places. My dining companion didn’t bother having more than a few bites of the stroganoff. This place is OK. Price is OK for a steak house, but I really wish they did the steak right. Maybe my expectations were too high for a strip mall restaurant.
Sunfish….oh yeah. Have dined here many times. The room is designed like a steakhouse with large booths and big wooden chairs. The staff is always friendly and professional. Parking is easy in the large strip mall parking lot. A few steps to the front door. The steaks can be a bit over salted at times, but always good. Last time I happen to arrive for the sunfish daily special. So good. For under $10 a large plate of perfectly deep fried sun fish with potato and salad. Best deal anywhere. I would make reservations on weekend nights.
Good Food. I arrived here at about 6pm on a snowy Friday evening. I was seated promptly. I ordered a Linebacker Viking (11oz Sirloin) with a baked potato and house salad ($19). I was served a loaf of bread with what tasted like onion/chive butter. Overall, I thought it was a good meal… My steak was cooked perfectly. I would go back here again. I had no issues with the food or the service.
It was great! We got a free dessert for our anniversary.
GREAT FOOL AND SERVICE. We were there on 9-22-2012 for our Anniversery. Have gone to dinner every one of our 44 years of marriage. This was the best dinner we have ever had. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful. We had prime rib and it was done perfect to both of our request. The blooming onion, best ever. We also had a seafood add on that was fried and the batter was light and it was done perfectly. Every thing else was great also. And the Ice Cream sunday at the end had such great sauces on it.I would more than recommend this restraurant to anyone. It is just as good as any very high priced place.
AWESOME Food!!! The price is totally worth what you get. Kid friendly as well! Will be going back next time we are in the area! This place deserves a 10 outta 10!
Best value. I’ve eaten at Morten’s and Manney’s and for the money Timberlodge has my vote. It’s low medium price at best and very good. A secret is if you go later on a Sunday evening, you get a really nice portion of prime rib since they close earlier.
