Still real. Coming from Mexico and Texas, I can safely say this is real. The tacos were delicious, if not a little pricey. Am definitely going back.

Good Stuff. Great traditional tacos. Wonderful seasoned pork.

A hidden gem: fresh authentic Mexican food, with a great bakery next door. My wife and I stopped in for the first time today for lunch, and discovered a hidden gem. Like when we visited the Mexican bakery next door, we were the only non-hispanics in there and all the other customers spoke Spanish to the staff, but employees at both places were bilingual and spoke and understood English well enough that there was no language barrier. The menu was written in both languages. This is a truly authentic Mexican restaurant … (i.e., there won’t be any lettuce, tomatoes or cheese on your tacos). I had a carne asada (charbroiled steak) quesadilla. It is on special this month and was $5 or $5.99 (don’t remember which), normally $7.50. It had a very nice grilled steak taste and was loaded with meat and cheese, and came with a few chips as well as a decent amount of rice and beans. The quesadilla itself must have weighted 2-3 pounds or so … a ton of food, which I couldn’t finish. I’ll get another meal out of it.My wife had a chicken taco (chicken was white meat only, unlike some other authentic Mexican restaurants that also use a lot of dark meat). It had fresh cilantro, onion and salsa on it, all on a small tortilla. She said it was kind of bland tasting, as authentic Mexican food often is to those of us used to Tex-Mex, and would be better with a tomato on it (too used to eating at Americanized versions of Mexican restaurants, I guess!) or something to add a little more flavor. But she said it was made of fresh ingredients and was otherwise very good. After ordering, we reviewed the menu more closely and found some other things we’d like to order next time. They have skewer-less Mexican kabobs, with your choice of meat, as well as bacon, onion, cheese and pepper on it, which sounded good. My wife wants to next time try the tortas (a.k.a. Mexican sandwiches), which come with a lot more flavorful ingredients than the tacos. They have mayo, lettuce, tomato, avocado, onion, jalapenos, cheese and beans on them, with your choice of meat.Speaking of your choice of meat, for most dishes you can choose everything from the familiar, such as steak, ham, shredded beef roast pork and chicken, to the authentic Mexican favorites of beef tongue, pork stomach and tripes. It’s your call on how adventuresome you want to get when ordering each entree. Also, when you order at the counter, you’ll notice a multi-layered large orange slab of meat hanging vertically back by the grill. The employee told me that was their Mexican BBQed pork. I thought that’s probably worth trying on a future visit because it looks quite unique and interesting, and is probably orange colored from the spices, marinade or sauce. Anyway, watch for it when you visit the restaurant.Beverages are unique as well. You can order a Mexican Coca Cola (I’m guessing this is bottled in Mexico and made with real sugar, which many people prefer, rather than the high-fructose corn syrup used in the U.S. version of Coke), Mexican sodas, rice water, and many other different, authentic choices.Once you’re done eating here, go next door to the small Mexican bakery (I forget the name) for dessert . They have lots of interesting pastries there … some with vanilla and creme fillings, some with banana, raisans and other fruit fillings, one with cheese and jalepeno peppers in the middle, and many other fillings. They bake them onsite (you can see them baking everything through the doorway to the back room). The two we tried were quite good, but we have lots more different things we want to try on our next trips there. After a visit to the restaurant and neighboring bakery, with the Latin music at both places, just about everyone speaking Spanish, and authentic Mexican food and pastries, you’ll feel like you’ve just experienced a slice of Mexico … without the expensive plane tickets and hotel stays.
