Awesome experience. I am so happy to find a Somali restaurant in Burnsville. The food and tea was delicious . . . and a great value. There was so much food that I had another two helpings of left overs to take home. I suggest anyone having Somali food for the first time to try the sample platter . . . so good. The tea has just the right amount of spice and sweet. I am looking forward to eating at Tawakal again soon!
Awesome. Food, service and the restaurant was more than I expected. The vegetable soup had a spice that gave it a bite which was a pleasant surprise. We were told to try the appetizer that was like an egg roll. Aside from the crunch, nothing like an egg roll. This appetizer was loaded with flavor. It reminded me of a Jamaican beef pastry I had in Montego Bay 25 years ago. Then came the main course-the sampler. Beef, fish, chicken and goat. That’s right goat. Goat reminded me of a lean short rib. All served over rice – a very flavorful rice – with a salad. It was enough for a family. The owners are a brother and sister who make you feel very comfortable from moment you walk in the door. Make sure you make this a stop one day for a dinner you will enjoy.
Highly Recommended! The chi…. Highly Recommended!The chicken curry with Ethiopian Ingra was absolutley delicious! The meal includes a side salad, a beverage, and soup (also delicious). The spices and flavors were delightful and the portion size blew me away! On top of the very good food, the owner/staff were very welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend Tawakal!
I’ve eaten here 3 times.. Injera & Sambousa are delicious. The owner the first time gave me a free sample of their house soup.. very good!!
AWESOME. We just tried Tawakal for the first time tonight. The food was awesome, even my kids enjoyed it. The serving sizes were large enough for 4 of us to share 2 of the dinners and have plenty left over. The staff was very friendly and helpful!. They even gave us some watermelon water, it was really tasty and the kids loved it. There were a handful of tables in the small space, but the take out traffic was non stop! I would definitely recommend trying it. We will be back
First time coming to Tawakal. Our daughter had a project to eat at an Africian restaurant. The owner was very insightful on what to try. The food was AMAZING!! I would totally come here again.
