Deep dish pizza is great, especially the veggie special! The service has varied during the times I’ve been but the pizza makes it worth it.

Award winning pizza? I’ve had better pizza at a kid’s party.Thin crust was very chewy the cheese didn’t seem real the sauce was bland the pepperoni was tasteless and also chewy.Caesar salad was too saucy but big portion. I really liked the croutons though.Decor was o.k. Liked the old poster’s but the wooden benches sucked bad.Overall a real let from all the reviews and ratings. Cheers.

This is what deep dish should be!. I was in Eagan, Minnesota for business and I decided to find something other than the old chain pizza style pizza and decided to try The Italian Pie Shoppe. The pizza that I got from them was the best part of the whole trip! I ordered a large deep dish pie from their specialty selections called the Spinach Pizza which I also added chicken to for carry-out. The first thing you notice when you open the pizza box is how it looks exactly like what you would imagine a Chicago deep dish pizza would look, the edges of pizza are tall and the crust with the toppings is thick. In my case I could tell that the spinach was fresh and the tomatoes came in large chunks, what surprised me even more was that the chicken I added to the pie was actual pieces of chicken breast as opposed to what the chains like to put on their pies. The pizza itself was delicious and the sauce had that ideal robust taste that makes you wish you had ordered an extra side of it to dip your crust into. I also ordered the Italian Fries with Cheese, which is not to be missed. The body of the fries is actually the crust they use for their thin pizzas which is filled with mozzarella and the outside has garlic butter brushed onto it and herbs sprinkled on top. What I liked about the Italian Fries was how the top of the dough pulls away from the body of the fries when baked which gives it a nice crunchy texture. The Italian Fries also come with a dipping sauce that I think is the same sauce that is used on the pizzas, this was great because I was able to use some of it to dip my pizza crust into as well. The only bad part about my experience is that I don’t have one of their restaurants back home. This is very unfortunate because I know when I get back home I’ll start thinking about how good my pizza was knowing full well that I wont get another chance to enjoy the pizza from The Italian Pie Shoppe until I make it back to Eagan, Minnesota or one of their two other locations.

Pretty… but flavorless.. That pretty much sums up most dishes here. You get these large portions of food that looks delicious, but are bland and void of any flavor. I don’t understand why because I can see that they’ve sprinkled something on most dishes (even the bread) but everything is pretty tasteless – no garlic on the garlic bread, mozzarella tastes like plain brick cheese, and the meatballs don’t taste like Italian meatballs at all – they look like the processed frozen ones you get from Simek’s. Even the salad came from a bag. The one good thing here is the gelato but too spendy at $5 for 1/2 cup. Plenty of better Italian/pizza choices in the area.

    Awful. Will not be back.

Bad…. I had the margarita pizza and Chicago torpedo… With the margarita pizza, the tomatoes tasted like they were from cans and the basil was definitely from the spice rack. The Chicago Torpedo had store bought pre-chopped lettuce and some had a rotten taste to it.Needless to say I did not finish my meal.I would NOT recommend this place to anyone

Not again. We have been to this location several times over the last few years. The service seems to go down hill each time. We have had to wait at out table at least five minutes or more to even have someone stop by. Yes, they are busy but acknowledge we are present. Takes a long time to get the food. Food was OK. Pizza is good. But dinner selections can be salty or too spicy. Bread is good.
