Went there on Saturday morning. Seated right away. Waited forever for a waitress. When we finally got one she forgot everything. One waitress had filthy dirty hair and kept trying to run her fingers through it, but her fingers wouldn’t go through. Then, of course, she served people their food. Ordered over medium eggs they brought me raw basted eggs and burnt toast. My wife forgot to specify her eggs so they brought her scrambled. These guys should not be allowed to serve breakfast.
This place has a reputation for being a little bit spendy. It wasn’t too bad, but it was a couple dollars more per entre than most places. It is easy, however, to see where that extra money goes. I had the pot roast omelette with rosemary potatoes. Easily one of the top five omelettes I’ve had. Portions were generous and the stuff just tasted great. I finished up with a croissant. A huge, buttery, flakey croissant. Service was good too. Great experience!
Linguini Alfredo ans Almond Crusted Walleye. First of all it took our waiter,Chaz, 15 minutes to take our drink order. It took him quite a bit longer to come back and take our food order. I asked for my small salad ahead if time and it arrived with my meal. Not a huge deal, but just added to the irritation. My sister’s walleye was cold and my linguini had only a few small pieces of chicken in it. Not once did Chaz come back and refill my water and we had to flag him down to get more drinks. Will not be going back, which is sad because the restaurant has a lot of unique dishes that I would have liked to try.
Porky Pig Pot Pie. This is a great down home comfort food place. The Porky Pot Pie was amazing! and so filling you could almost share it. I didnt have room to try the cupcakes next door, they own both places. The Salmon Salad was marvulous too! Love the cozy atmosphere and cute mason jar lights. They also have acustic guiter players on some nights. Great family or date night place.
Happy Hour on a Friday night. We liked the look and the vibe of the restaurant, great music from Pandora being played but the food was not up to par. We arrived for happy hour and the place was pretty empty. We ordered the BBQ chicken flatbread, waffle fries, wings, and beef skewers. All of the food was brought to our table at one time. The first problem was all of the food was cold, especially the flatbread pizza. The beef skewers were 6 small pieces of meat with no taste and the dipping sauce had no flavor at all. The fries were crispy but cold, and had not been seasoned. The wings were small and boney, not particularly crispy, the hot sauce was OK. I did notice there was no salt or pepper on the tables, there must not be any in the kitchen either. After we ate most of the food we did tell the waitress that the food had been cold, she was great and said we should have told her. We typically tell the server but if all of your meal is cold who wants to send everything back so they can reheat it, that never turns out well. Its too bad because the burbs need more places like this, we dislike eating at chain restaurants so this seemed like a good option, unfortunately we wont be returning.
Total disappointment. While they might have great food, the service just was not there. We walked into the half-empty restaurant and waited for a good 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged our presence and graced us with a table. Then the person who was supposed to be our waiter told us she was at the end of her shift and that someone else would be taking care of us, even though we saw her walking around for another 20 minutes or so, during which time no one else came by to take our orders or at least to say someone was about to. So – half an hour in, we didn’t even have a chance to order food. We just walked out. Never going back to that place again
