Ordered sushi rolls for take out. All was good till half way through my meal I ran into a fishbone. Odd I thought, I dont ever recall finding a bone in sushi before. Then further into the meal I hit a patch of bones. I pulled 5 or 6 bones out of my mouth and then spit out the rest of the roll. Obviously a quality misstep, so I called Joy Garden to alert them of the issue. This is where I got upset. The manager didnt believe me! Telling me those rolls dont have bones. I pointed out that salmon and eel were present and then the message changed. I got the eel can have small bones you can eat. I am sorry, but I have a hard time believing any customer would be happy to eat sushi with fish bones you cant bite through. They then asked me to text pictures of the bones. That was the straw that provoked this review. To be fair, the food tasted fine and they did offer a credit, however since my wife had already cleared the table I was not able to take a picture, so I am not anticipating a credit. I hate to write a review like this, but fish bones are a safety concern.

First Impression. First time. Tried the sesame chicken lunch special. Mostly coating, very little chicken inside and what was there was dry and tough! The fried rice tasted like it had been made a week ago and reheated in microwave. The egg roll was good.

Bland. We had Egg Drop soup and Hot and Sour soup, bland. The Hot and Spicy Chicken and the General Tsao’s had little flavor and no spice. The egg rolls tasted like something we can buy at the grocery store. Our 11 and 12 year old kids really liked the sushi.

This place is so underrated. The portions are huge and the prices are tiny. This is the place to eat in Forest Lake.

Sushi in Forest Lake!. If you are in the Forest Lake area you should be sure and visit Joy Garden. It is a little hard to find, tucked away in the same parking lot as Norman Quack’s. The dining area is small but clean and bright. For me this is more of a take out place. They have sushi and chinese food so if you are with someone who doesn’t care for sushi they will have options.
