So delighted to have a new Somali food option further South in S. Minneapolis. We started with the requisite, favorite appetizer; the sambusa came with delicately flavored beef filling, which benefitted from the addition of red (tomato-y) and green (pepper-cilantro spicy) sauces. The wrapping was bready with a light, satisfying crunch that is significantly less oily than other sambusa I’ve tried.A close relative to suqqar, we ordered both chicken and beef curries, with the nearly melt-in-your-mouth beef as the distinct winner. Both came with light lettuce salads, pitas and fragrant rice, but different cooked veg. The chicken was paired with a wilted spinach-peas-carrots mixture and the beef with some kind of cooked lentils. All very good and we cleaned our plates. In the former Bridgeman’s ice cream space near Minnehaha Falls, the building retains a little of its dairy-dessert history but they’ve added a few touches to make it something new. Simple decor and plenty of seating make for a very comfortable atmosphere. The owner is very friendly and welcoming. We’ll be back!
