My wife and I grabbed a quick lunch here while in town on business. We unfortunately had an extremely long wait (50 minutes) for my wife’s bacon and egg combo and my chicken BLT. After the long wait, we finally received our food and it was actually quite delicious. Portion size and taste were fantastic. The manager was extremely apologetic and actually paid for meal because of the long wait. Despite the wait, the meal and atmosphere is great. We would definitely come back if we had an ample amount of time to spare.

Wow!. So being vegan and picky I was a bit skeptical but after seeing that they use local fresh ingredients I had to try the tofu dish on the room service menu. I did have to ask ahead of time to be able to have the tofu dish as a dine in meal and the chef accompanied my request. The servers were really nice about helping out also. The tofu was pan seared with a wonderful fennel salad and amazing brussel sprouts with morel mushrooms and caramelized onion. The flavors were amazing and I just couldn’t believe what a wonderful dish it was. One of the best meals I had all week!

Shared Plates and Conversation. We’ve had lunch one Sunday, and appetizers Christmas Eve. Service a little slow but interesting menu, particularly the shared plates, each enough for 2-3 people. It’s right as you walk into the Hyatt, very open yet stylish and warm setting. Maybe best of all, you can actually hold conversations unlike so many other noisy places nearby.

Great Modern Dining Option in Downtown Minneapolis. As part of a work function, I was invited to attend a luncheon here a few weeks ago. Having so immensely enjoyed Walleye and Chips lunch platter, I suggested the venue to a friend visiting from out of town. So, about a week later, he picked the Prairie Kitchen and Bar at the Hyatt, and so I was returning, but this time for dinner. Since it was a small celebration of 3 (one having a birthday), we opted to split a few appetizers including the ‘Create Your Own’ option and the ‘Grape & Blue Cheese Toast’. The first included all the pickled choices, and the Farmer cheese. The Grape & Blue Cheese was served hot in a Red Wing Pottery crock, sort of like a fondue. Both choices were out of this world – and reasonably priced. To accompany my meal, I was delighted to see a Pinot Gris from Erath Vineyards. For dinner, I had the Strip Loin, very good, but I would have preferred anything along side it besides a heaping of fries. Next time, I’ll ask, and I’m sure they can find a substitute (so that’s my only suggestion). My friends both enjoyed the Walleye dinner platter (both with plenty for lunch the next day), and we closed the evening with the dessert trio. Our 3 to 1 favorite was the Sweet Vanilla Pancakes, but you cannot go wrong with the Chocolate Hazelnut Torte either!Service was prompt, timely and polite! The server (forgive me, I forgot his name, but I think it was Sam) was knowledgeable of the menu and the hotel (an added bonus). The design is chic and modern, yet comfortable. The hotel lobby alone is worth the visit. Dining appears to also be available at the large bar area centered in the space.
