Sorely dissappointed. What a let down. From all the glowing reviews, I was really anticipating that I had finally found some good Latin American cuisine in the Twin Cities. But my experience at Salsa a la Salsa on 4/21/13 wasn’t even a near miss. There were six in our party, and nobody was impressed with their entree. I opted for the Camarones Chiltepin fondly remembering the wonderful garlic sauteed shrimp I had enjoyed in Puerto Vallarta and Tuxpan years ago while traveling in Mexico. I’m sorry to say what I got here tasted like shrimp stewed in dishwater. And what a skimpy portion. Seven small shrimp (approx 35 – 40 count size) with a serving spoon of beans and rice for $13.95. My wife had a combo plate which included an entirely inedible chile relleno. It was way over cooked (mushy) and the breading was way off. But they did do a decent job with the Nachos con Barbacoa. But really any baseball park can get that right.
Great food and atmosphere. We had a large group (15) who dined at Salsa a la Salsa on a Saturday night. It was very cozy inside, the staff were attentive and accomodating, the drinks were very good and the food was excellent. Everyone was pleased. Would definitely recommend this restaurant, especially if coming downtown for event at convention center — and they take reservations!
Authentic and fresh. Having moved back to MN from Phoenix, my Mexican food fixes have become more rare. This was an unexpected pleasure. Way above average in menu, preparation, and taste. This is as good as Mexican cuisine gets in MN. I’ll be back! Try the Margueritas!
Overall a good Mexican restaurant. The combo platter was good and filling at a reasonable price. The rest of the menu looked great with lots of house specialties. A nice dessert and bottled beer selection as well. Service seemed fine. Not a super place but still quite good.
Pretty good food. Wife loved the burrito, I just liked the fajita. Friendly service, but VERY slow and understaffed. I guess I would mildly recommend.
Best Mexican food in town. I love salsa a ls salsa. It is the best mexican restaurant in twin cities hands down. I love their tacos and cactus salad. You have to check this place out if you like mexican food.
Good fajitas and EXCELLENT salsa. Went here the other night as I am in town for a conference at Mpls Convention Center and didn’t want to have to drive anywhere. Had chicken/steak fajitas which were good…not the best I’ve ever had (they had way too many onions in them, not enough peppers), but was able to get black beans and grilled veggies as a healthier side option. Having grilled veggies (especially asparagus) was awesome and it was nice to have beens that weren’t as heavy as normal refried beans. The best part of the meal, though, were the chips and salsa beforehand. Excellent fresh tomato salsa and wonderful green salsa….I would’ve loved to be able to buy some of this to take home with me, alas I am traveling. The service was kind of slow/distant, but that is often the case when it is just one person dining on their own. Fajitas were $14.95 I think. I am not sure what the reviewer below was talking about concerning being charged for salsa/chips–this did not happen to me (nor others there). Maybe an old practice?
