Poor management-very disappointing. We arrived at 6pm to see at least 5 empty tables and were told at the desk it would be 30 mins for a table for 3. We waited for 10 minutes and asked why we were still waiting, given all the empty tables. We were told that they were holding tables for 6:30 reservations. OK. Fine. Then they seated several parties of 2 that arrived after us at tables for 4. We asked what was going on.There were 4 people working at the desk and they all looked back with blank stares. Then a couple they had seated at a high top for 2 didn’t like their table and complained. They were then moved to a 4 top. And then they went next door to buy wine while the table sat empty for 15 minutes. Clearly there is very poor floor management at Spasso. We have been to Spasso a few times in the past. It has been fine in the past, I would never go to Spasso again. We walked out after waiting 40 minutes while they sat at least 7 other parties ahead of us. With all the competition in Wayzata and Excelsior, Spasso is lucky the grey’s bay bridge is closed for a year. I hope they get someone new to manage the floor because once the bridge reopens diners will make the easy drive for much better service and a better experience at any other venue.
Locals. What happened to Spasso? Have been here dozens of times but just returned from 1 year in Arizona. Had business lunch today at 1pm. Set in a booth as usual for privacy. Still enjoy the atmosphere in the bar area. BUT the pasta dish was not edible, way over salted and garlic salted. Which must have been to hide the lack of using quality garlic and herbs. The pasta was poor quality spaghetti noodles.I am shocked by the fast food taste and menu but high price of each dish. There is not a seafood entre on the menu, except cod tacos.Server was very nice but not trained. Brought bread 10 mins after our pasta and salad arrived. I am so disappointed with the change of Spasso. But I will be back since I live in the neighborhood and want to support my local businesses. Polenta fries were still fabulous. Happy Hour is still good choice for wine and apps at a good price.
Food could not be more bland. Survives because of its location. Could do much better
Blech. We’ve been here probably a dozen times and we have never enjoyed our food enough to justify the price. e confine to go for wine as they are amazing supporters of our community.
A decent Italian place. It’s not worth the price though. The pasta is noodles and co comparable and 15 an entree. I’d say go with Noodles if you’re getting takeout. The Alfredo is tasteless.
Pasta was over-cooked for both pasta dishes. The bread that comes with the meal was plain and should have come with olive oil for dipping since this is an Italian restaurant. Overpriced!
We have been going to spasso several times per month over the last year. The food is great and servers and hostess are typically very hospitable. Tonight we were greeted by the extremely rude manager who could barely look up over his spectacles to communicate with us. We felt very unwelcomed. Disappointing!
