Disappointing. I heard from friends how wonderful their food was. The waitress had difficulty helping me decide where a gyro salad appeared on the somewhat complicated menu. She told me to order a salad with side of gyro meat. The salad was small with about five finger tips size of Feta. The gyro meat served on the side was a copious amount of dry, crusty gyro meat served without tzatziki sauce When the bill came I was charged $2.25 for the sauce. Upon asking the manager, she told me it was the best ever, strained three times and never served with the salad unless asked, thus the charge. No pita bread was served. She did agree to replace the meat, but the rest of the conversation was unpleasant. It was a sad experience at best,.I have traveled all over the USA, and the continents.
Best Greek I’ve had. Visited once and then twice again in the next two weeks. Highly authentic. Try the specialty gyros.
Lamb roast in parchment bag with red bell pepper, okra, onions, fava beans & eggplant-tender and succulent!30 Jul, 2011Our family has long visited & dined @ Gardens of Salonica enjoying a breadth of Greek cuisine in a friendly environment. Wine list is good; however, will need to ask for guidance on food pairing. Overall, lovely experience!
Authentic and fresh. It’s long been on my radar screen, and Saturday I finally made it to the Lazaros’ delicious Greek corner of heaven – Gardens of Salonica (in NE Minneapolis – 5th St.). Yum! I especially loved the marinated artichokes and fresh tzazki. I’m thrilled the trip was worth the wait!
I really wanted to like this place, as it’s so much closer to me than It’s Greek to me or Cristo’s. The artichoke app was fantastic. Our entrees, on the other hand, were very disappointing. The leg of lamb was tough, fatty, and fell short on flavor. The roasted potatoes were roasted at some point that day. The greek pasta with beef and bechamel was boring, except for the bizarre overwhelming all-spice added. They have great taste in art. I still wish it was good.
Relaxing…. The service and food were very nice.
A little expensive, but nice food. This place has character – the food is good and the service is nice. The atmosphere of the restaurant is artsy. I am glad it is in Northeast Minneapolis. I am not a huge fan of Greek food, but this place is fun and the best Greek restaurant in town.
